Feels like buying high on a guy whose stats are inflated as a tank commander. But, if its mostly a Herro swap count me in!

What does the Trae Young talk say about Rozier? I see his name constantly on heat twitter as a consolation. Some here were absolutely adamant Rozier was the guy - 3 level scorer, clutch, playoff performer, on Jimmy/Bam timeline, the whole nine - now 4 months he isn't the pg?

I say if we're going for a star, I'd rather swing and miss on a bigger/better player even if its a name deemed untouchable or not talked about. De'Aaron Fox fits the mold of the caliber player you clear the deck for. I'd even rate sleepy Ingram over Trae for size alone. Debarge is still living off a playoff run 4 years ago where Ben Simmons was afraid to shoot a layup. If the proverbial whale isn't out there, see how to acquire your own version of some of these impactful role players we see in the playoffs. Worst thing to do aside from standing pat is clearing house for a name just to become a prettier version of the Timmy/Zo Heat - good, but not good enough.

I think it just means we have optionality to trade Rozier in the next season+ for another complement. Rozier can be a positive contributor and still not be as impactful as Trae Young, thus warranting moving him to maximize lineup around Trae as a core piece (bc the fit isn't optimal for both)

In any scenario, if Rozier is healthy and Miami's starting PG next season, I'm quite confident he will be better than what we saw in the short and disjointed stint that we experienced to date.

What was the deal with Smart's injury this year? In the scenario we're able to move some money around that is the caliber player I'd love to have as a reserve that could thrive here. And I say that knowing full well Spo would try to find some minutes for him at the 4, but we need to find a way to bring in a few still-capable veterans that can make high impact.

I have no idea what's real or not. But if I was a player, it wouldn't instill confidence in me that the FO wants me to decide the next coach. I would want a FO I can trust to be better at operating as a FO than me--someone with zero experience in that capacity and that should be focused on honing my basketball skills. Similarly, I would want a coach that I feel knows better than me.

No as a star player you want an organization that will instill the trust you to pick the right coach. A player knows first hand if a coach is good or not, if they can motivate teammates or just be good at Xs and Os. It's all about having power and a say in things, equity might be a good word here. Maybe 30 - 40 years ago one would trust a front office, that line of thinking has gone the way of the Dinosaur. For crying out loud our first championship came because Shaq saw Stan the master of panic was not a good coach.

Or did our first championship come because Shaq had full confidence in the man running the whole thing--hence stepping in when he needed to and not stepping in when he didn't (with LeBron a few years later)? Cuts both ways, darling.

I get what you're saying and think a superstar having input can be valuable. But, if it's the scenario where a FO is basically trying to show their worth by saying "tell us what you want us to do" then I'd run away from that. That's a "pick-me" FO.

true about Mitchell, but Dame actually tried his hardest. Riley dropped the ball by playing that leverage crap instead of just putting our absolute best offer on day one.

It isn't like the deal Portland eventually got from Milwaukee was any better. Cronin made it personal because of Dame's dumbass agent.

Missing the 2nd or 3rd most dominant player in the world will do that to ya

Hmmmmmmm so stay in small market Cleveland who’s never won anything without the best player ever while running your all star teammate out of town next to 2 injury prone bigs and play for James fuxkin Borrego OR go play for the greatest coach of this generation next to 2 elite impact players who barring health make it to the ECF every year at minimum surrounded by bums and 1 of those elite players happens to be your best friend and we’re in a bigger market? Seems easy to me

So the way I see it, Mitchell's folks float all the Herro rumors and the Cavs through their sources float the Mitchell likely to re-sign speculation. Until either one happens, doubt anyone really knows anything.

I'm very OK with going all in on Mitchell. (try to keep Jovic)

I'm also ok with trading everyone except Bam/Jovic/JJJ for picks and young players.

I'm NOT OK with Running it back, or paying big for non-needle movers (Ingram/Trey/whoever)

Mitchell can extend as soon as the finals end, maybe if that’s the case he’ll give his commitment prior to then and then sign when it’s over? We’ll be hearing one thing after another until then
