A buyout is a mutual agreement between a team and a player to terminate a contract. However, the player who is bought out receives a portion of the money owed on his contract.

In Russell Westbrook's example, both the point guard and the Utah Jazz have to be willing to do a buyout. Westbrook would receive a portion of his salary for the season and the Jazz would free up a roster slot.

So we wait 48hrs on Love, and hope for a speedy decision from him.

We also wait on Westbrook to finally make the call and negotiate a buyout. Hope we have Love in tow at that point and that their connection is a good draw to Miami. If so…

Vincent/ Westbrook / Lowry
Herro / Dipo
Butler / Struss / Duncan
Love / Martin / Highsmith
Bam / Yurtseven

Not in my top ten rotations, unless necessary:
Lowry - hopefully motivated to challenge the other two to stay sharp, and if not, Lowry is motivated to perform, if not… rot on the bench “injured”

Duncan - spark plug minutes, where he comes out in special situations and lets it fly

Highsmith - depending on Yurtseven or defensive matchups

Bam: 25-9-4-2-1 on 57% shooting on 17.5 FGA (4 games)

Jimmy: 22-11-4-1-1 in 55% shooting on 19 FGA (2 games)

Herro: 21-5-5-1-1 on 43/38/100 shooting splits on 19 FGA (4 games)

This is heavily skewed lol I was going to use it in my last post, whole reason I wrote it up. Those 6 games are 2 this season that he averaged like 9-5, 1 last season, 1 the season prior to that and then 2 from 2020 lol

This is why we dumped Dedmon when we had the chance once it was clear that no larger trade was going to happen.

I really hope yurt is serviceable for 10 minutes a game as Bams backup when he comes back. If not we need to get another front court guy with that 2nd spot. Our biggest issues come when Bam steps off the court

I wonder looking back now had they known they would get Love via buyout and potentially another solid piece if they would’ve been more inclined to come off some assets at the deadline to get something done

I mean love is coming for the starting spot and playing time over the money, we could’ve got it done without dumping Dedmon but the extra money helps us get that 2nd guy at least

Let’s get Love and let’s get this other guy whoever it may be. Westbrook Pat Bev some other shocking guy who shakes loose like Love did etc.

It’ll mean basically nothing for this season but let’s go all in this summer for a 3rd star to pair with Jimmy and Bam and let’s get these 2 new pieces on cheap deals and have them be this current builds Battier, Miller, Ray, etc.
