Not that I want him here even that long, but he's definitely a movable contract. He's seen around the league as a guy who will put his nose down and be the garbage pail guy, which a lot of guys aren't willing to do. It just does nothing for us because the whole roster is garbage pail guys.
I would have taken Jimmy 10/10 over this. At least you can get rid of Herro or Bam in a trade for a first option and he's still someone who can create his own offense.
I know, I know, we need to get over it. But number 1 options are hard to come by in this league. Even if they are more of a 1b than a 1a like Jimmy. He was a gift to us by Wade and we gave him up for nothing basically. With zero plan on how to replace. Its frustrating.
Honestly both sides were better together than apart. Because GSW fans are only going to look at him as a disappointment if his season is over and they end up falling short this year. But once Riley called him out after the Celtics series you knew it was going to be over, and probably get messy. Both guys with too much ego.
Jimmy would have been better off swallowing his pride and playing out his contract and/or competing in the regular seasons. Pat would have been better off swallowing his and just paying Jimmy. Now both are in messier situations, though at least Jimmy got some of the money he wasn't getting here (kinda doubtful he continues to make max money after this deal but we'll see).
All that said, either way if Jimmy stays it still probably ends in a rebuild, maybe you have one more draft pick out of it if you time trading him a bit better. But this whole thing needs to be blown up, its a miracle they transitioned out of the big 3 era without multiple lottery years, but now its time.

The way I see it….this is the best case scenario. Riley & Arison can’t hide behind “we’re a piece away anymore” after this.
A combination of lack of assets and FO arrogance led to this atrocity, namely trying to strong arm Jimmy instead of just trading him in the offseason when you knew you weren’t gonna extend him (rightfully so by the way, & Lord knows what we could’ve gotten for him).

I've never wanted to punch someone in the face so badly. Really hoping to run into him at a game one day. I won't hesitate.
KingDavid wrote:contract wrote:If you're Spo what do you even do at halftime? Do you go JJ Redick and play your starters the entire second half, or do you just load the team on the bus to beat the traffic?
Nope. Empty the bench. Lakers were playing to win. This squad quit. I almost don't want them in a heat uniform again. I hate quitters. That's why I was so mad at LeBron after 2011 finals.
