Ira just does not like Dampier.

Q: Have the Heat found their answer in the middle with Dampier? — Al.

A: Sure, if you’re looking for a center who did not attempt a single shot in his first start with the Heat, in Tuesday’s victory over the Kings. In fact, no sooner was the game over, then coach Erik Spoelstra insisted the Heat would remain a three-center team and that he would find minutes and opportunities for former starting center Zydrunas Ilgauskas. It is a delicate walk for Spoelstra, with Ilgauskas a favorite of LeBron. All of that said, the Heat also are actively pursuing an upgrade on the trade market that would provide a definitive answer in the middle.

The guy has to put up some sort of defense for Joel Anthony in nearly every Ask Ira column, I wonder why.

come on - one of your criticisms of Joel was that he doesn't shoot (because he can't). Damps didn't shoot last night.

Damps didn't shoot last night because he didn't need to. We scored 35 points in the 1st quarter, Dampier played the whole quarter. Its not like Damp bobbled passes or caused the offense to stall. Just based on both of their performances this season, we know Damp can catch and finish at the rim, something that Joel is no threat to do.

I don't want to read too much into this game because the opponent was the Kings, but it'd be silly to suggest Ira isn't being biased himself here. That's fine because its an opinion piece, but he definitely prefers Joel to Damp and seems to really dislike Chalmers as well.

"I'm not even being politically correct, normally guys say I'm giving it to LeBron, but honestly I'll give it to [Rose]," Howard said on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000. "If he stays on this pace that he's on right now, he's got my vote if I was part of the committee."

Oh Juwan, don't you realize we're gonna have to cut someone if we pick Troy Murphy up?

When are Bulls fans going to get over their inferiority complex towards the Heat? It's pretty pathetic that they get up in arms whenever anything Heat gets mentioned. We won a championship, blew up and built it back up again and all the while they've remained the "good young team with potential"

Amare was asked who the Melo trade puts the most pressure on. He said "the Heat guys," because now they know it's getting harder and harder to just come out of the East.

Hey Amare, we're worried about Boston .. not your no defense, no bigs, and no bench team which does not scare anyone in Miami.

Amare has been doing a lot of talking the entire season, especially in recent weeks.

We're not even the best team in the East right now (Just being honest, I think we can get there by the end of March/April), LOL at the obsession with us. I'll admit NY is better now than they were a couple days ago, but until they play defense and rebound I'm not going to be worried.

And WTF Juwan Howard. Please, cut this guy.

LMFAO this. If we sign Troy Murphy cut the old man.

Was just thinking about this time last year, when our main objective was to inject ourselves in Amare rumors in order to keep him away from CLE and potentially creating a dynasty there. Almost like we were playing lockdown defense in order to preserve a plan, a pipe dream, that no one thought possible at the time. AND IT HAPPENED. Seems like ages ago.

We are so damn lucky to to be Heat fans and have such a shrewd gangster, pimp, don, godfather like Pat.

That's the conflict for Heat fans this season.

On the one hand, from a roster standpoint, we're the luckiest fans this side of EVER, and really shouldn't complain about anything.

On the other hand, from an expectations standpoint, if you let the media affect your perception, this has been kind of a stressful season. Nothing short of 72 wins and a championship would have been good enough.

I try to lean towards the former, but the latter POV gets the better of me, at times. Its hard to ignore all that stuff.

Also as an aside, just saw Dan Shaughnessy on Rome Is Burning, I've always hated that smug ass-hole, but it just amazes me how an entire region of the country including their media could be such huge homers. There is something about Boston when it comes to their fans, people and media, they just have such a distorted view on the rest of sports.

Yeah, Amare is getting very cocky. And while they have trouble defending us, we will shut them down. LeBron (when he wants to) is THE best on-ball defender on the perimeter in the NBA and can't get bullied around by Melo because he matches up with him pound for pound. Than we have Bosh and Joel defending Amare. And once we get UD back, we can rotate those 3 players on him. The Heat aren't afraid of them..

And I never liked Juwan in the first place.. I thought Riley was being a bit too generous to guys like him by signing them (I don't think he had a choice though, we only had vet minimums to hand out). But still, I hope we sign Troy Murphy (even though I think he's pretty bad on D, he still can provide 14 and 10). But come on man.. You have to stick up for your teammate.

Extremely random observation, but now when we play the Knicks, it'll be the LeBron/Carmelo rivalry all over again. How weird is that... going from Zo/Ewing a little over 10 years ago, and now LeBron/Carmelo today. I'm not even used to us having LeBron yet...

Its like we were destined to always be rivals with the Knicks.

We must've shared the same thought bubble.. :o

Hopefully, they get CP3 so that technically, it'd be Wade vs. Paul, James vs. Anthony, and Bosh vs. Amare.

You got me hooked on this song when you posted it during the 06 title run in the very 1st random thoughts thread.

They just don't make music like this anymore.

Sat's game is going to get overhyped to death, but we needed life to an otherwise boring remaining schedule.

i fully expect the heat to destroy the knicks especially after how horribly lebron played. you usually dont see lebron play bad more than once against a particular team.wades gonna get his. well have bosh again. blowout.
