am i the only one here that doens't think a big is our be all end all? i am genuinly surprised at how much people are still saying we need a big even after we just signed a future hall of famer and a decent draw card in Lewis who i think can recapture plenty of form with us. man so far this off-season couldnt be much better if you ask me.

No, you're not the only one.

We've played 8 playoff series since forming the big 3. We're 7-1 in those series with a total of 28 wins to 15 losses.

Did we lose any of those series because we didn't have a "real" center? We lost one series and it's not because of that. If lebron shows up in 2011 we're 8-0 in playoff series :o

The only reason I want a big is in case Bosh gets injured. He's our best big by a considerable margin, so when he goes down, we suffer. PEACE.

The only reason I want a big is to battle Dwight and Bynum defensively. Heck we could get one of those bigs (like a Haywood, no chance he gets through waivers) and stash till those matchups and go with our small ball for the rest.

You're playing the results though. What if we could be even better...

it's like winning a car race by going 110 MPH.... but your car is capable of going 200 MPH and set a new world record.... you can't just sit there and say, "well, 110 MPH is good enough, we won the race"

that sort of thinking creates 2 issues :

1) smaller margin for error

2) we have a historic assemblage of talent..... kinda want to see more than just winning the 2nd seed in the east and just winning the Finals like any other champion...... we are more than that. We have LeBron, Wade, and Bosh in their primes.......

I wish people would quit listing Andrew Bynum as a threat. He's TERRIBLE, and he will never bring it every game. He is so over rated. Dwight is the only reason we'd need a big. I'm more worried about Duncan, Garnett, and Marc Gasol than I would be Bynum

The thing to remember about the "need" for a big man is that you only need him against a few teams. You need shooting against every team. You need versatility against every team. That's why Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis were rightly prioritized over Camby or someone of his ilk. You take the guy who helps you against everyone every time over the guy who only helps you against some teams/some players.

We're not Desperate for a big but it's the one last piece that we're still missing and it's always good to have bigs.

Bigs that we might be able to get with Miller's disabled player exception for 2.9Mil $ per 1 year :

1.Ronny Turiaf
2.Kwame Brown
3.Kenyon Martin
4.Brendan Haywood (got amnestied, waiting to see who gets him)
5.Darko (if gets amnestied)
6.Joel Przybilla
7.Jordan Hill (not likely)

By Trade (requires us giving up assets) :

Dalembert
Okafor
Ian Mahinmi - Got a 4 Mil$ contract from Pacers

Of that list only Hill interests me, though I'd take a punt on Darko just to add the no.2 pick from 03 to the roster.

yep, not to mention in Camby's recent radio interview about why he chose Knicks was deplorable, saying it all came down to KNICKS PRIDE and he couldn't see himself being a part of that (Heat)... as if $ didn't have anything to do with it  I'm glad we ended up with what we got. amazing offseason.

where does all this heavy Knicks pride come from anyways? that one finals appearance over a decade ago?

I'm not surprised really. I know Camby was apart of the Knicks eliminating the Heat in 99. Imagine him all of a sudden coming and being alongside Zo in our organization or something having a chatter. I don't see it

It wasn't meant to be.

Allen and Lewis it is!

Darko amnestied. If he clears, do you think Riley takes a chance on him?

Fairly sure he'll be headed home.
