The question is.. Will Darko clear waivers??? I think there will be some team that is going to grab him to avoid him going to Miami. Well see...

But maybe not if he tells them he doesn't want to play for anyone except Miami and if anyone else signs him he'll go to Europe.
I remember when the Dolphins were perennial contenders

Billups tried that, said he would be pissed and unhappy in the locker room to any team that bids on him. Clippers got him anyway, Billups is happy now.

"Oden to Heat?" talks in 5...4...3..2...

Chris Tomasson
Greg Oden’s agent told me his client has changed his tune and now is willing to return this season after having wanted to take all of 2012-13 off. “(Oden) called me, and he was kind of excited,’’ agent Mike Conley said about the often-injured Oden calling Conley earlier this week. “I think he’s motivated… He wants to play. He had said he wanted to take this season off but he’s backed off from that… He’s open to playing this season. I think he will play this season.

Mike Conley, agent for Greg Oden, said he has not heard anything from the Heat since Oden was waived in March. But Conley said Oden would have interest in the Heat if they ever were to be interested. “Obviously, if the Heat wanted him, who wouldn’t want to play for the Heat?’’ Conley said of the defending champions. “That goes without saying. They have roster spots and a need (at center). But it’s too early to say about where he might play.’’

Agent Mike Conley said one reason Greg Oden has backed off from taking this season off is he’s been cleared to work out and is feeling better about his situation. “He’s starting to work out,’’ Conley said. “He’s excited. You can tell he’s getting antsy. At the end of the day, I want him to finish out his NBA career. He’s still pretty young (24).

What Billups said was that he would be pissed and unhappy if anyone who wasn't a serious contender bid on him. The Clippers did it and everyone was like, WTF? But it turns out that the Clippers were serious about being a contender so it's all good now.

Anyway, would Darko have any reason to make a pledge like that? I didn't get the impression he was just dying to play for the heat.

Oden's agent is named Mike Conley? What a weird coincidence.

Oden is the man I've hoped for since he said he'd be back last year. Go get him Riley.

Oden is certainly a better project than Curry  If he is cleared to play, why not go for it? Low risk, high high high reward!?! :o

Oh and Mike Conley is the dad of Mike Conley Jr. and is the agent for both Conley Jr. and Oden. Both were teammates and friends in high school and went to Ohio State together.

We currently have 13 players on our roster, but i really think Miller is taking the year off. so we really have 12.

13 spot - Darko or Turiaf
14 spot - Justin Hamilton or Jarvis Varnado,
15 spot - Oden as a project, ONLY IF Heat doctors are giving the OK.

Might as well take a flyer on Oden. I wouldn't expect anything but if he were able to work his way back by the time the playoffs start and give 15 minutes a game of beast defending, rebounding, and shot blocking the Heat wouldn't have a weakness.

Plus Greg Oden needs a fresh start somewhere not named Portland. Miami could be that place. Get his health in order, and be a valuable contributor for this team. And he'll have a legend to tutor him in Alonzo Mourning. who also went through health issues (obviously a kidney ailment is different) but he'll be a guy Oden could relate to.
