let's be real. Who has Riley actually lured to Miami without Dwyane Wade?
He drafted Wade, best thing Riley ever did as FO, and he had to be convinced to do it. Correct me if I am wrong, but I remember that Riley wanted Chris Kaman? lol
comparing us to charlotte teams lol. We are Miami, we can attract good coaches and execs because South Florida is attractive.
I mean, what team lures anyone without having a star already?
You're making my point for me.
Success in the NBA is getting lucky in the NBA draft. Basically.
And Riley has squandered Wade's final gift to Miami... Jimmy Butler. Our biggest move since trading for Jimmy.... was Kyle Lowry.
I mean before that we had Dragic, and Lowry was considered a big get for the team at the time. Oladipo was considered big too. On top of that, I think we could have gotten Dame if the blazers weren't dedicated to not engage with the Heat. The heat have just been unlucky with a lot of their moves.
Along with this, we just haven't had much assets to make big swings because of the way the Heat run. Teams that make big swing have big assets. They have big assets because they do A LOT of losing. The Heat try not to lose, so they don't have big assets.
Also, I don't get what you are saying about Riely not doing anything without Dwade or the draft. That's literally part of the game. No team wins consistently or attracts stars without getting lucky in the draft atleast once. That team then has to have the organization to cultivate that player and create an environment where other players want to come. Dwade isn't some unique hack Riley was given by the game devs to game the system.
