It's no hit to the team it's only a potential huge benefit. The 10+m is paid by Arison not the team it's the same for any vet min guy.
I remember when the Dolphins were perennial contenders

From what I've read online the past few days, it seems that Oden's been noncommittal to all his preferred teams, but right now we're the ones not really serious about signing him.

Latest I've seen on him says MIA, SAS, SAC all in the mix, but it's hoopsworld...

Free-agent center Greg Oden will be in Las Vegas this week for face-to-face meetings with officials from the Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans, according to sources with knowledge of Oden's plans.

Exactly why I don't give a sh@t about what FA's say until they sign.....broken record, but if we adjust the way we use our current bigs, this would help more than worrying about some outside player deciding on whether to play with us our not...

IDC if it' just a visit, I want FA'S to do with us, what they do with other teams....they mention an interest with those teams, then they usually sign. the heck with these same old players, saying the same old thing.....FOCK EM...not in the mood for these high risk, do nothing FA's.......

This happens with every free agent that we don't sign.

First its that we never really wanted them and then its how bad of a person the guy is.

The market has been slow for a lot of guys so I think someone will be forced to take the MMLE. I would be disappointed in the team if we don't use it just to save money.

Even if its just a one year deal we should use it on someone who is better than a minimum guy.

I have thought this way for years about us changing the way we use some of our current players
1. Herro 2. Bol Bol 3. Seko 4. Bruno
unless we trade up for Barrett or trade down for PJ Washington

This is the one thing I have not really seen since Pat Riley got here. Awesome system when Zo/PJ brown, etc.was here...IMO, the system for the BIGS has gotten a little stale......

Rockets to hire Olajuwon to work with centers (we’re looking at you, Dwight). Miami has ZO on staff, but I doubt he works at all with any of the bigs that have come since he's left. Miami has TH on staff, but i doubt he works with any of the PG's we have....

 Its friggin Dwight. Zo should be insulted walking into a gym with Joel Anthony. You can talk about how our bigs are used, but it starts with acknowledging what those bigs can/can't do

I honestly don't expect him to sign with us. He's using Brandon Roy's previous contract with Minnesota as leverage. He is probably waiting to see who would give him the MLE.

I'm not trying to question is competitiveness, I think he just wants to look after himself and get paid because his knee issue can come back and he knows it. If he was a 30 year old center I'd see him coming here for the minimum, but he's still young and for him to listen to one of Riley's championship speeches it probably means nothing compared to getting his last big contract which is MLE most likely.

He would, but he's trapped in this thread and doesn't know how to get out.

reality is NOBODY knows what will happen and this isn't something worth getting blood pressure raised about. so with regard to this exchange I quoted, just move on, their is nothing to see here.

Oden just wants to steal another paycheck.

The guy will never play in the nba. Even if we sign him for the min, we will just be playing a player to rehab on company time and money. He won't ever play, of this I am sure of.

No offense, but u have no idea what Oden's condition is. How he is health wise. Is there a chance he doesnt play again? Oh sure, but its not definite. Please dont pretend like YOU KNOW. If the heat medical staff and Pat Riley believe that he can play again, and be somewhat effective, ill take their word over yours

This thread reminds me of the arguments to sign/not to sign Center Marc Jackson back 10-12 years ago.

just like the medical staff said Drew Brees was finished in the NFL and the doctors instead medically cleared Dante Culpepper ?

i dont care what the doctors say.

greg oden is a 90% chance of never playing in the nba. his body can't hold up. so i don't agree with these expectations that greg oden solves our Center issues.

Man it hurts as a dolphins fan that we could have had Drew Brees over Culpepper and Mike Tomlin over Tony Sporano. I agree with you if we missed out on Greg Oden and he panned out I would be upset.

Yeah we have a pretty good track record in these sort of reclamation projects. Both Penny Hardaway and Shaun Livingingston were supposed to be done, but Riley bought both a little bit of extra life in the league. Livingston is out there still playing. Dunked on us last year.

So I trust if we are interested in Oden, it's because we think we can manage his health.

What people would have to understand though is that may mean that even though he might look like the answer in flashes, Spo doesn't play him as much as people think he should.
