Did we waive Iggy?
Naaaa but can he play right away?

He's going to come off the bench to play defense, he'll have enough offense around him on the 2nd unit with Dragic, Herro, and Crowder. I wouldn't be surprised to see him playing in the next few games(if not in Sacramento), he was expecting to be moved by the trade deadline so he's known to be ready.

Dude. He wasn't a top 3 pick. He was the 10th pick, and Winslow is what you expected out of the 10th pick. If you re draft his draft he is 9 - 10 pick. This is not a Michael Bealsy situation. He didn't fail he just didn't overperform as some had hoped he would.

I have always wanted Crowder on this team. Glad we got him. Our perimeter defense has improved over night.

Bottom line is we gave up the best player in the deal. 2020 cap space doesn’t mean much when we are planning for 2021 anyway, unless we can get big one year commitments from good players.

Basketball wise, it remains to be seen how much Iggy and Crowder will play. Spo has been going 8-9 deep for a while. It adds healthy reinforcements, but are they actually difference makers?

Winslow was 23 and on a team friendly deal. Yes we got out of the JJ and Dion contracts, but as I said, if we were gunning for 2021 they weren’t really that big of a hindrance at this point.

I would’ve understood it and agreed if the Gallinari deal went through. That makes us materially better, and Winslow is unlikely to reach Gallo’s level realistically. That didn’t eventuate though.

Dunno. Jury is out for mine. Initial impression not thrilled.

I agree with you. I think as some have suggested the disagreement between him and FO on his injury may have contributed to him getting traded.

Right, 82games did an analysis on draft positions around 10 years ago(2008).
So at a glance you can see the first five picks tend towards stars and solid types with no complete busts.

The 6-10 range show about 1/3 of the picks reaching star status, but lots of role players as well.

The mid first round (11-20) is much more a crap shoot with as many busts as stars.

I'd still would like to get a backup big. Someone like Nene. We need someone who can play 5 to 6 mins against Embiid and not absolutely torched if Bam gets into foul trouble.

Based on expectations set by fans he definitely fell way short of that. I remember fans turning down trades of Blake Griffin or Jimmy butler for Winslow as the centerpiece on our side.

Have to hope Silva is that guy. We committed to him we have to let him play.

Reexplore Danilo, and start negotiating with the Wizards for Beal.

Guys Winslow wasn’t cutting it. Maybe if we didn’t have Jimmy, maybe he could’ve done something. But we have Jimmy, Nunn, Dragic, Herro etc all handling the ball, all hitting shots. Justise became expendable, and subsequently was dealt along with Weighters and the supplier.

Besides all that Justise hasn’t even played this year and with Back problems he probably isn’t gonna play this season again. We had 3 THREE guys just sitting on the bench collecting over 40mil. Now we got 2 defensive bodies that can actually contribute.

Bustise OUT

Think he has a Player Option for next season. So he could theoretically opt out this summer.

I'm not even going to miss him much if I'm being honest. Maybe it's because we never saw enough. I do remember flipping out when we drafted him. That was a great day. He will likely get healthy and be damn good for Memphis.

Regardless, we have Crowder now and cap space to be a player in the off-season. I know that the only dude is Davis and there's negative chance he's leaving LA but at least we have some financial freedom if a unique opportunity presents itself.

Remember that Caron Butler also had similar pre draft hype. He was supposed to go top 3. Then the Warriors took Mike Dunleavy, and he fell all the way to us at 10.

Winslow was considered a steal, but his stock was dropping closer to the draft. His workouts weren’t as impressive as other guys, which makes sense when you watch him in game. He hasn’t got the pure stroke. He doesn’t have the vert. What he does have is a great feel for the game, passing instincts, defensive intensity and blue collar work ethic. Those things don’t shop up in individual workouts.

While it would be nice if he blew up, bottom line is at pick 10 you are hoping for a long term rotation player with starter potential. He is that. He didn’t get to deliver on it fully here for a multitude of reasons, hoping chapter 2 works out for him. I’ll always be in his corner.
