And why can’t a trade be finalized for a month?

Because JJJ signed. Just saying, that JJJ signing doesn’t mean he won’t be in the Dame deal.

I think Portland asking for JJJ and dragging a massive deal out 30 days seems like a stretch at this point.

Mentioned in the other thread but it’s time to mix it up and be spontaneous on here. We all know the definition of insanity, if we keep making these new threads and expecting a different result nothing will ever change. Mods it’s time to leave this one open until we have our resolution whether it takes 1000 pages or not!!!

JJJ is an older player, he's already 22 and drafted to be a ready to contribute player, not a guy with a ton of potential that hasn't been realized yet. I expect Portland wasn't too interested in him so Miami signed him and moved forward with him although there's always the chance that Miami signed him to tell Portland this can't happen for 30 days so if you want him you have to wait to make the trade.

The deal can be done and legally binding and reflect that its commencement date will go into effect upon JJJ being moved when able. It's just legal maneuverings. It can still be binding conditioned upon that and done.

I've never seen opposing fans and media hate so hard on a player trying to land on a team since '10. Won't even count Durant/GSW as that's pretty warranted, a top 2 player joining a 73-win team is ludicrous.

However, just a month ago Heat were being called frauds, Cinderella story turned pumpkins blah blah blah and now all of sudden you'd think MJ in his prime was demanding to go to Lakers with Magic and old man Kareem and Worthy. It's hilarious

I agree, they’ll cave eventually

If teams are trying to take advantage of our situation… then if I were Pat, I would pivot back to Portland and say, the offer is Herro and 2 FRP + fillers, and y’all figure out what is the best value you can get for Herro later when the smoke settles.

Fact is, Dame wants to come here, Portland have a bunch of young players seeing how they treat their franchise player after extended loyalty was shown, and they are actively nuking the best deal we can give them which makes others team smell blood in the water. Portland is tanking this deal and making it worse not better through their actions.

What's being lost in this is why would Lillard do this unless he's been given strong hints or was told that this was on the table for him sometime before his latest contract was signed, I highly doubt he's completely ignoring the franchise he's been loyal to for his own benefit.

They want Lillard to go to a big market team because it's good for their business.

IceColdCubano wrote:Its kind of different when your on a one year rental, You play out your year and GTFO. Toronto risked it and got a championship out of it and still couldn't retain him after the fact, so winning a championship doesn't even earn you enough kudos to keep a player of his caliber. In this case Lillard still has 4 years left on his contract. If Kawhi had 4 years left on his contract he would be playing out his contract in Toronto or traded elsewhere at his mid point if he pouted enough, Toronto may have repeated or rebuilt around that team.

That only works if one goes full Ben Simmons, look at him now and the consequences of his actions. Also you are neglecting that the risk reward justifies the move for many teams. If what we are offering is seen as trash by many around the league, it doesnt take much or any real effort to beat that by many teams. The Jazz could easily go for it with the armada of picks they have. The comic irony of getting a better player than Donovan for a fraction of a price to team up with Markkanaen. Oh and the icing on the cake is it bleep Pat. Yeah he is really going to pass up that opportunity lol. The 76ers and the Clippers can offer a ton of expiring and just out of spite the Blazers owner could make those moves. Look like we have reaches the point where it's at a personal level, the ok im going to Bleep you back for this betrayal. Thats where logic and common sense leave the room and petty grudges rule supreme.

Let's just see. There are too many examples to count that didn't require where a superstar doesn't go full Ben Simmons and still gets their way. Too many posters only see the economic transactions and don't understand that soft power (goes beyond what is written in the contract) and human dynamics impact this as much as anything else.

I remember when many were guaranteeing Dame wouldn't ask out. Guaranteeing Dame wouldn't specify his destination. Guaranteeing BKN would outbid Miami.

Power and leverage exist in more places than simply what is written in a contract.

Soft power means squat here if we are being honest. Portland is not a hot free agent destination. How they treat Dame won't have any impact on future free agents. Does anyone honestly think player X 5 years from today will be like " oh no I wont go to Portland because of what they did to Dame" Under different locations and situations one can make an argument, not a good one but an argument for "soft power" this is not one of those situations.

Image

At the end of the day this is the owner of the Blazers. Do you honestly think she give a rats ass about what Dame wants, especially after she perceives him to betray the team as a traitor. If one has ever dealt with a Karen in real life you know where this is going. She is the one that will decide when this is over unfortunately for us. It wont be hard to get Portland to treat Dame and his family worse that Vince Carter if he does really sit out. If Dame has any common sense left he sells his house and moves his family asap.

What are realistic things we can offer to Brooklyn for them to agree on the trade? Is it moving Ben simmons and also receiving another asset? Im all about getting it done at all costs.. even if we have to bring bens bumass here..

Ben wont survive a minute if Butler or Spo, or even Haslem as Haslem takes in a coaching role.. hes softer than KAT
