We need Haywood. He's the type of center to play against guys like Howard and Bynum.

He'll give us more versatility.

I'm good giving oden a chance as long as he sings a one year deal with a team option for year two.

Haywood was originally a secondary target if we struck out on Lebron. Heh. As I recall, the plan was (presumedly) to keep Dorell and UD, and sign Haywood, with the remaining space:

Mario
Wade
Dorell
Bosh
Haywood

6man UD

I think it is 48 hours from the time they were "amnestied". So we should know by this weekend for sure.

oh okay thanks :D

This was true.

Doubt Riles would have gave him that rediculous contract though. Would have used it on quality bench players.

Well, it looks like with all of these big men out there, one is bound to slip to us through the amnesty wire.

- Haywood
- Darko
- Brand

FA's:
- Turiaf
- Pryzbilla
- K-Mart
- Oden

I don't believe that any team is going to be willing to pay Turiaf, nor do I believe that there will be bidding for Darko. Darko's problem is a lack of motivation. He has not been motivated anywhere he played: not on that Championship Pistons squad, not in NY, not in ORL, and certainly not in Minny with Love, Pekovic, Derrick Williams taking his minutes as well as Coach Adelman's open disdain for him.

However, I think he can be motivated here in Miami. He would probably start (?), bang down low with Zo and Bosh in practice, and Wade/Bron/Riley/savvy vets will keep his head up. I think if Darko had the opportunity to turn his career around, Miami would be the place. It's a lower risk/higher reward situation. If he is bad, then we can just cut him. If he is good, he will be our starting center and producing.

Haywood's defensive presence is also good for this team. I would also welcome Ronny back with open arms as well. Any one of Darko/Haywood is a good consolation prize for striking out on the Camby sweepstakes due to $$$ constraints. In addition, all of these guys are younger than him.

Hell, I would not mind Oden taking Curry's role as a project. Another low risk-high reward situation. My only problem is that the dude is a ticking time bomb. God forbid he produces for us and has another gruesome injury at the wrong moment.

Huh! I guess Haywood should be the primary target then...if he clears waivers. PEACE.

Don't know if this has been posted yet n' I know what Ray brings to the table has kinda been beaten to death but Cooper Moorhead does a nice breakdown with some visuals of how exactly Allen fits right in.

http://www.nba.com/heat/news/the_dynamics_ray_allen_120711.html

Numbers may be somewhat superfluous with Allen, but he is coming off the two best shooting seasons of his career (by percentage). Shooting 45.3 percent from three in 46 regular season games last year, Allen was one of the ten most efficient players, per possession, in the NBA. He was one of the ten best spot-up shooters, he was one of the five best shooters off sideline out-of-bounds plays and he scored a ridiculous 14.6 points for every 10 jumpers he took without a dribble.

We have to mention, also, that over the past three seasons, Allen has shot almost 10 percent better (46.2) from the left corner than the HEAT did as a team last year (36.3). Over that same span, he shot 41.3 percent from the right corner, and 39.8 percent on longer threes above the break in the arc.

Scola being amnestied increases the chance of Haywood and Darko clearing waivers. Hell...getting Scola would be awesome too. Any of those 3 guys would be nice. If Miller takes the injury exemption, we're gonna have an attractive amount of money for one of them. PEACE.

EDIT: Scola is due $30M over the next 3 seasons. That's plenty of money. He should be willing to take a min contract from us.

Scola isn't a need for this team. The PF position is filled. Size is the biggest problem, we can't afford another 6'9" big.
