Personally, I think a lineup of Dragic-TJ-Richardson-Winslow-Whiteside is very intriguing.

I would be surprised if that isn't the line up.

Winslow should be developed on the wing, not at PF.

No way we start games like this.

Criminally undersized. His skill set is that of a SF instead of a SG.

But with this contract, he will be the starter at sg.

he is 6'4 and so was wade, if he gains some weight he will be fine.

Wade also has a 6'11.75" wingspan, crazy standing reach for his height, and hands the size of baseball gloves. He also is one of the best athletes ever at guard, had a first step like a bat out of hell. His physical tools and skills more than made up for his lack of height at his position. He was significantly better than most guards.

Can't say the same thing for tj. If you're short for your position, you better be some freak athlete with a lot of skill.

Not sure if we start out that way but that pretty much looks like a poor man's version of a death lineup. If we can rotate Bosh in and out of that center spot with Hassan then look out

I feel for TJ a little bit because I think expectations for him are going to be unreasonably high now because of that contract. I think there's a very slim to no chance he lives up to being worth $20 million a year on a championship team, but I still think he is going to be a good player. If we were going to get the benefit of averaging his salary like the Nets were, his expectations would be a lot more in line with what he's capable of.

I think we can work something out after the third year, extension for lower hit but more years. Harden did it this year for more money, Wouldn't shock me if TJ will do it to help the team and to stay in Miami.

Not to be a downer but Wade was measured at 6'4" without shoes with a 6'11" wing span weighing 215 or so pounds. TJ is 6'2" without shoes with a 6'6" wingspan and 180 pounds. The eye test confirms this.

Which makes the average of his 3 year deal just over $10M, which is what Woj said was right for him. He can opt out and resign (with bird rights above the cap) to another 3 years at say $40M, which is an additional 2 at $10M beyond his guarantee.

I think Williams will be the surprise on this team. He looks like he would excel in the Heat system.
If Winslow hits sophomore slump especially with his subpar shooting, Williams could be starting by mid Jan.

I don't think the team would start him based off his contract, he's ideal for a 6th man role where he could go bananas off the bench

The nba is all about politics and that certainly goes for the Miami Heat.

Jr is playing in the summer league, tj just got a huge contract. The heat will make him earn his dollars.

Winslow will never be in a slump because of his defense.

He's been in an offensive slump since we drafted him.

Maybe I'm' deluding myself but I'm seeing a guy that is very athletic but not in great shape. If he gets in Heat shape and works on his 3's every day this summer, he just might be a nice surprise. He's got the tools, he needs to put it together and I think playing fast will help him also

There was a period last season where he was getting killed by his man. Spo even limited his minutes after finally seeing enough. Winslow isn't immune from slumping though. He's human.

it really depends what we plan on doing at the 4. winslow is a terrible shooter still and teams are going to play off of him, until winslow forces teams to defend him, he will need to be surrounded by shooters. if dragic and whiteside are going to be on the floor, and you add winslow, the other 2 players have to be spacing threats. we'd have to play winslow at pf, and im not a huge fan of that, unless we do something like start babbitt at the 4.

dragic/jrich
tj/ellington
winslow/james johson
babbitt or bob/dwilliams
whiteside/reed

if bosh is starting, i dont think i would start winslow.

My point is, Winslow can do whatever he wants on offense, cuz we are not a good team no matter what.

Hm, no. Take a look.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/winslju01/gamelog/2016/

You said there was a period? There may have been a game every once in a while where his minutes were cut, but he's never played consecutive games under 23 minutes last season.

Winslow can play 1-4. It doesn't matter. He's the most position-less player on our team.

Return to Miami Heat
