HeatFanDan wrote:Y'all got me all wrong. I used to listen to a ton of hip-hop back in the 90's-early 2000's, which, imo, was the "golden age" of hip-hop. As you age though, your tastes in music change. I had people tell me this when I was a young buck, and I thought they were bullchitting me, but it turns out they were right. Plus, the stuff that rappers talk about in their lyrics has no relevance to me at this point in my life. Listening to someone talk about bustin' guns, smokin' buds, and how many bitches they phuck seemed cool in my 20's, but I'm a 41 year old man.

As proof of my "hip-hop past", what y'all know about that "Shell Shocked" by Mac?, one of the few non-lame No Limit releases.

For me, I just absolutely hate the style of rap that has been out the last 5-7 years. I like flow and rhyming that flows to the beats whereas rappers nowadays talk over beats and the flow to me is horrid. I do dig Suicide Boys and Ghostmane tho. I like old 8Ball MJG, The Clipse or Mobb Deep style.

Hey MWP, since you're a fan of AZ, were you feelin' "The Firm"? It got a lot of hate, and was a commercial flop, but I liked a couple tracks on it. Phone Tap had a hot beat.

I had no issues with the Firm album. I enjoyed many of the tracks. Wish Cormega was involved instead of nature but it is what it is. Nothing against nature as i'm also a fan of his work

If that second one sounds familiar, this may be why:

This one got a lot of controversy here. Manu is from Montreal and opposed to Canadian involvement in the Afghanistan war. He released this song showing the perspective of the war from an Afghan soldier's point of view. Some people weren't pleased, especially with how the video ends.
