You really think Scola is going to clear waviers? I doubt that. I can see the Mavs picking him up.

Just makes it easier for us to pick up one of the lower key big men left over

There's a chance Haywood clears waivers right?

Wow really the rockets letting Luis Scola go!! He would be great in our offense, the guy can rebound and always on the move and just has great offensive game. He would just make our offense unstoppable.

That's why Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis were rightly prioritized over Camby or someone of his ilk. You take the guy who helps you against everyone every time over the guy who only helps you against some teams/some players.

I disagree with the bolded statement.

I don't think Riley prioritized Lewis over Camby it was just Camby could not be had for the same contract as Lewis. Given the two options I think he would take Camby over Lewis and so would I.

Remember Lewis is coming off of an injury and he had fallen off the year before that. There is always the possibility that he follows the Mike Miller pattern and only has a handful of impactful games over a few years (although for the minimum instead of 6 million)

If it was a top of his game Rashard then you gotta go with him. But given the seasons both of them had I would go with Camby and I think he would help us against more than just a few teams.

Allen was prioritized over Camby, quite obviously, but yeah, Lewis and Camby didn't seem like much difference in wooing. So it was only half wrong. Heh. Still, the general point remains between Allen & Camby - Allen helps against everyone, Camby doesn't.

I think it can all work out for the best. If we can get Haywood or even Darko, both could be better then Camby at this stage. both are bigger, younger, healthier.

Nope. However, he should make it easier for Haywood and Darko to clear waivers. They're both owed enough money they should be more-willing to take the min with us. We'll see. PEACE.

BTW which teams are under the cap anyway? those are the only teams that can claim the amnestied players before we could make an offer.

There's a good chance one of them will clear waivers.

The general board will have a fit if we get one

 The amount of butthurt, if we get one of them  It's going to be delicious. What's hilarious is that it's not even a big deal if we don't get one, we can still win it all. But if we get one, peeps just going to go off!

Scola might clear waivers after all:
David Aldridge ‏@daldridgetnt

As @EricPincus pointed out first, under rules, teams have to give Scola at least the full unguaranteed amount of last yr of his deal--$10M.

James Jones not retiring, embraces Allen, Lewis
The 3-point-shooting forward stresses that while he wants to retire as a champion in his hometown that doesn't mean he's ready to retire this offseason.

No way in hell we're getting Brand Or Scola. zero%.

Id really love to get Haywood, very good rebounding numbers, size, shot blocker. and he's a realistic option, with a little luck and a little Pat.

I'm fine with it. He must understand and accept that he'll be one of the last guys off the bench, and very likely in a suit most of the season. He's getting paid $3.35M this season. He'll be alright. It's nice to have a veteran guy, and a Miami loc to help the young guys out. PEACE.
