No way we get Isaiah.

If we walk out with Morrow and or Vince, Hawes or Hill or Okafor then I'll be a happy man.

Cole/Napier
Wade/Allen/Morrow
LeBron/Carter/Ennis
Bosh/Haslem
Hawes(Okafor/Hill) Birdman

Much better upgrade from the team we saw in the finals and more youth with the additions of a potential Hawes/Hill + Napier and Ennis. If we do better like sign Gasol then superb but I think the above is the most realistic core.

It's weird though

People saying we don't have the cap space, but we are going after these people...

Ariza is not cheap yet he is our top target

I guess you can say we are throwing our MLE at them but that's clearly not their price tag

BUT ALSO we aren't using all of what we have on one person

Miami needs capable role players, plain and simple. Adding a Lowry or Gortat is great, but if you still have JJ-Battier-Cole-Chalmers-Haslem bricking shot after shot then Miami still isn't beating SA. Adding a Gasol / Hawes to solidify the C position goes a long way towards satisfying LBJ and the big 3, and increases the likelihood of getting quality players to sign for less, which is ultimately the goal for Riley to help fill out the roster. Add a pure shooter like Morrow, a few ring chasers (Nelson to replace Chalmers, Marion replacing Battier)-- and they're in much better shape than Lowry / Gortat + all vet minimum players (at least IMO). Requires players like Marion / Nelson signing for less then they can make in this market, but they've already had their pay-days and I think Riley can convince them to sign for less for a championship run.

Why should we care about the bulls getting melo?

I think we get a couple of low key guys. Morrow would be nice. So would Jordan hill

But what happens with birdman. He deserves 6mil next season. Maybe we can get him with out bi or room exception. But if birdman returns he would be taking a big paycut

There is no denying he is talented. He is just a head case. But so was Rodman and Jordan and Pippen were able to control him. I think our guys stand a better chance of doing that than soft as babyspit Roy Hibbert and catfish Paul George. He turned down a 5 year deal staring at $8M, which is in line for a talented athletic wing who can shoot and defend. Plus, it would make a great story! But would it anger Lebron?

I don't mind him at all.. but as you said, he turned down $8.8M ($44M/5) from the Pacers so he is pretty much out.because of that. We ain't paying him more than $8.8M per year! Who does he think he is, Denis Rodman??? I'm sure LeBron wouldn't mind Lance if he can be had for like $6M... the dude is basically asking $9M+ and that's just too much for his service+antics+whatever else he can bring to the table.

Risk/Reward is there I believe. Yeah, hes a clown but the potential to blossom into a star is there and 3 years from now we could regret not paying the extra couple of million a year for him. We know what the Arizas, the Morrows and the Paus will bring to the table. Think long term. This guy could be with us the next 12 years. Its worth the risk if we can do it

I suppose. But we are probably looking for someone who is affordable and become an instant impact to win now. Because we are a win-now and worry about the future later team. I am just guessing.
Maybe he'll be real good but you can say that about a bunch of young maybe future star players like Chandler Parsons and whomever else WE CAN"T AFFORD. I don't think we are going to spend all of our money on Lance, period.

Naw, we will pay Birdman fair market value. His caphold is only ~$900K, and if we renounced our rights to him, we'd still have an incomplete roster charge of ~$500K, so renouncing our rights to him gets us literally only ~$400K extra in cap space, totally minimal. Meanwhile, by holding onto his rights, we can offer him up to about the full MLE, ~$5.5M, even if we're over the cap, because we have his Early Bird rights. He's gonna get paid fair money, he just has to sign last.

This is why I think the reports that Bron is demanding the max are incomplete at best. I could see him demanding the max if Riley isn't able to improve the team because he wouldn't want to sacrifice $ again just for Arison's sake. But I honestly believe that if Riley had something in the works and ready to go which required Bron take a modest discount, then Bron would be willing to do it for the sake of improving the team.

That's the only thing that makes sense to me. Having Wade opt out and leave $40 mil on the table -- just so Bron can get the max -- just doesn't make sense given everything we've come to know about Bron over the years.

I agree that lebron would take less than max but only if we got pieces that improve the team. Lebron is not taking a paycut just to help arison. Micky already did him dirty by cutting miller for money reasons

We might just wind up with mid to lower tier free agents but it just seems strange to me that the big 3 would opt out just so we could add a Morrow to our team. I also don't understand the thinking that Lebron opted out of two years left at near max on his contract just so he could sign a two year contract at max or near max value.

Its just hard for me to believe that Wade and Bosh leave all that money on the table to sign new contracts just to give us the ability to nab a Trevor Ariza. I think its a foregone conclusion that all 3 re-sign but I gotta think that there's something bigger in play to cause them all to opt out. I mean whats the point of opting out when all its gonna do is net us a lower tier free agent?

I assume ray, birdman, haslem, cole, jones, and rashard are coming back. The only question marks are beasley, douglas, oden, and chalmers.
Then we have the rookies. hamilton is under contract for this season and then ennis is rumored to possibly getting a multi-year contract.
I'm curious on how we will fill out the rest of the roster and with who.

If Lebron meets with people face to face, flies out to other states, not his representatives, then I will get worried

I agree. However, he's the only one doing this. We dont hear Bosh or Wade's name about this type of stuff. Its clear LeBron is coming back....why is he allowing the nonsense to go on. I'd rather be hearing about him trying to get in contact with Pau.

Hmmm this guy cited that Dengs agent has said Deng likes the Heat and they haven't spoken about money, but they are waiting for the Big 3 to sort out

Apparently other teams have inquired about Mario and Mario isn't sure if the Heats interest

I'm curious as to the tweets I've seen about a "2010" type move for us....

Return to Miami Heat
