Its still more of a learning issue for Ware. He is still learning how to read and react to different defensive schemes. The Spurs were doubling off of him leaving him wide open. He has to learn how to counter that within the scheme.

He has a real Jekyll and Hyde situation to him. Some moments he looks locked in and like he's not taking any **** from anyone. Other moments he looks like he's ready to apologize to anyone on the court for the slightest fouls. He needs to keep that mean streak and stay aggressive.
In the words of Greg Pop, Ware needs to "show us some nasty!!!"
I keep saying it about him and you all have heard the saying elsewhere 1000 times but the saying is true, YOU CANT TEACH MOTOR!!!! I know he’s young but damn man, you’re too big and talented to not give us anything. We really need a legit PG to get the bigs some easy looks. Get a few easy ones early and then you have a little pep in your step and the flow of your game on the night can be completely different.
Love Davion, he’s a scrappy mfer who prides himself in defense over anything but he’s not a starting caliber PG on a championship team. He CAN be a great spark plug 2nd unit guy though and that’s a big difference maker, especially in the playoffs.
No way to get that pg.
Herro will not get traded.
Wiggins will probably get traded for rui at some point this season.
No one is taking rozier.
Powell is the archtype most teams don't want right now.
Its kas or bust at this point.

Not worried about ware. We seemed hellbent on giving the lions share of shots to Bam and Wiggins which is okay when Herro and Powell are out

Re: 2025 Miami Heat Regular Season Thread
Not sure what the deal is with Wiggins in here. Same with Herro. Wiggins will be our fourth option on offense pretty soon and he is for sure doing a hell of a job doing everything else that the normal fan normally don't see, that significantly impacts winning. And he is for sure an impact player on offense that can give you 14 to 30 points every time he is on the floor. As a fourth option! But ya'll want him to be Tatum.
When it comes to Herro, same crap, he was a 1st option (he is not supposed to be that) on a team that sucked and was swimming all year in dark waters with the whole Jimmy fiasco and he still made his first all star and had his best season ever at 25 years old, this season, he will play with other capable players specially Powell and opponents won't be able to focus on just stopping him and with Bam now being a problem behind the arc "so far" (only dependable from the corners btw), Herro will be able to play with more spacing, and without the pressure of carrying the team offensively, he will be even more efficient as a player. Do I want a super star on our team? of course, do I wish Tyler was a better defender? sure, but saying Tyler would not make this team better is just an insane take and a flawed agenda I only see a few in here pushing.

The unnecessary shade
Corner 3 is arguably the most important 3 to be able to hit, especially to bailout players attacking the rim who can’t get off a good shot. Above the break will come with time, it’s part of development. But yes, I’m aware the forum thinks Bam is the same player now as he was when we drafted him

It's not even the shot attempts with Ware. When he's in a game just watch him. He doesn't move with a sense of urgency most times. I'm not trying to bash him but you see someone like Pelle in there and you see the effort more times in less minutes.

Still 1st in pace but dropped from 1st to 5th in PPG.
Also for those wondering about the offense change, apparently we brought in Memphis old assistant and implemented his offense from Memphis
Where'd you see the Memphis assistant part? You just confirmed what I've been saying. I said this offense seems like the Memphis offense. I even told my brother if Ja Morant asks out dont expect us to get him because he hates this offensive scheme.

There’s actually some rumors Ja wants to be in Miami but it came from Jimmy’s bestie last trade deadline or summer so take it with a grain of salt.
As for the Memphis assistant:

I get that but he still needs his shot attempts in order to get and stay engaged in the game seemingly. Spo will work him through different lineups and see what fits him best

I agree with both of you. I'm one of the biggest Ware proponents, but he has been underwhelming. Even the games where he has had clear positive impact, it's still been pretty up and down where parts of the game he's kind of invisible. This will happen with a young player. But what's concerning is when you can't see the effort.
At the same time, you have to make things easy for your young guys, but especially a big. There is not enough of a concerted effort to get him touches when we're freestyling and not running plays. And his IQ at this point is not high enough on either end to find those opportunities himself unless its just spotting up from 3, which has been terrible for him so far.
This is where having a true PG, or a guy who can bring two defenders to him off the pnr like Herro would help get him some alley oops. I'm sure Spo is working on it though.

Saudades.

Rewatching the game and it is tough to see the refs not making defensive foul calls against the Spurs because they dont want them in foul trouble. Its hard for me to be very critical of the Heat offense when there are clear fouls on drives.

Spo seems hellbent on +/-.
I had a bit of a player by player look:
- Bam almost always a +, only -2 in the 4 point loss to Orlando (no surprise with Bam).
- Powell actually a +12 vs Orlando, positive vs Memphis, but a -7 in the 7 point win over Knicks
- Wiggins a negative or 0 impact in 4 out of 5 games, -9 in a 7 pt win over Knicks, -21 in a 4 point loss to Spurs. +13 in a 27 point victory over Hornets his only + contribution.
- JJJ was HUGE positives in our 3 wins (43, 18, 43) and minor negative in our two losses (-1, -1) or to put it differently, we are 0-5 so far in our non JJJ minutes.
- Mitchell is a mixed bag, 3 positive, 2 negative, but they don't always relate to wins and losses. A positive vs Spurs, a negative vs Knicks.
- Fontecchio positive all the way until last game as a -9.
- Nikola positive in every game since the first in Orlando where he was -13
- Ware negative in every game other than Memphis game where he was +15 in the 32 point win in 23 mins.
- Dru Smith positive all the way until last game as a -6.
