Do Tyler Herro have any intention of working on his defense this offseason?

The talent is not there. Herro tries hard.

He's a theoretical fit, but Hawks fans don't seem to like him much.
Still, I don't care much for front court pairings if they don't help our offensive woes, which is our #1 issue outside of outright talent (Rather talk about Randle, Trae or Mitchell, though neither are likely)

Speaking of which, while Mama is not one to brag, I can tell y’all that back in my day, Mama’s curves gave many men a maximum extension.

As if Butler was just going play under his current deal without causing any waves lol. The moment we don’t extend him comes the trade request. The moment we start playing hardball comes the Jimmy you really don’t want to deal with.

Jimmy knows he has Pat bent over a table.

Well, it's going to be an interesting next couple of months. It's a staring contest to see who blinks first.

July 7th is the window to open up extension talks with Jimmy. If we are serious about giving him the extension then great. If not we should be weighing out offers before the draft in order to try and get max compensation and pick they player we want selected.

Re: Miami Heat Offseason Thread vol. 2 : We Running it Back.. (WITH MITCHELL!)
My take on this is I no longer believe a Jimmy/Bam centric core is good enough to win a championship. However controversial it may be, fans overplayed the "Jimmy and Bam dragging this team" narrative. Our deep playoff runs have been about Jimmy playing like a superstar and role players rising to the occasion. Now with that said, if a player isn't attainable that can be the real #1 or at least a 1B, you've got to give some thought to this max extension. Even if we upgrade role players I'm just not sure Jimmy can carry the load anymore.

Re: Miami Heat Offseason Thread vol. 2 : We Running it Back.. (WITH MITCHELL!)
After seeing what happened after we screwed Wade over I'm actually at peace giving Butler his extension. The karma of paying Whiteside and all those other bums rather then just paying Wade was just down right awful. Sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet and hope for the best. I think Jimmy will be all in trying to win a championship throughout the life of the deal. If Lebron is still capable of getting max deals at age 40 and up then we can give Jimmy this last bit of respect for everything he's done during his time here to bring the franchise back into relevance.

The caveat with that is Jimmy very likely isn't on this team if Wade wasn't in Chicago telling him that this is where he needs to be.

Jimmy has Riley and Arison backed into a corner. You either patch things up quickly and give him his extension or Jimmy ask for a trade and the low ball offers come flying in. Play hard ball thinking he's going to be some type of good soldier and play out his contract and risk this turning really nasty in the media. That trade me to Philly only request is going to hit like a ton of bricks.

I'm a big believer in karma. Jimmy has embraced everything Miami. We need to bite the bullet here and pay him. He wants to be here so pay him. It's just another added year on his deal when push comes to shove.

No argument from me. I won't be complaining if they pay him

Yeah, I don't think I want another bad parting with a superstar. We've had a few...
I'm accepting of Jimmy getting his extension. Maybe it's not the best business, but he has carried a heavy load since joining us and led us to within a bees dick of a championship. The NBA remains wide open, and with some tinkering of our other players and our offense, we could and should still be right there. We need to start taking the regular season more seriously and making it easier for ourselves when we get to the Playoffs.
If we can swing a combination of Herro/Duncan/Rozier/Picks into better fitting pieces that work with what we're trying to do, I don't see why we can't make some noise.

Yup and keep building wisely through the draft with cheap surrounding talent. We have 73 million tied up with Rozier, Herro, and Robinson. That’s what has to be fixed. Bam and Butler deserve their max extensions.
