I'd hope Riley would be averse to trading away the pick, it's time to start building from within, so unless the Heat are getting back a legit All Star around Wade's age, I'd keep the pick. I understand other people saying we can't afford to rebuild like this, but Jordan didn't win his first championship until he was around thirty, so we got to be patient. So I'd be fine with picking Lopez if we can't get Beasley or Rose, though he's not number one on my center rankings, if you all have read my in depth scouting reports, you know who I got number one there. I just want to become the Spurs of the East.
For a long time it gave me nightmares, witnessing an injustice like that. It’s a constant reminder of just how unfair this world can be.I can still hear them taunting him, Silly Rabbit tricks are for kids.I mean why couldn’t they just give him some cereal?

Seattle is different since they picked centers that could have easily been bypassed due to where they were picked. We got Conley because Lowry broke his wrist after his tenth game and missed the rest of the season. If that doesn't happen, then I believe Conley would not have been picked by us.
That's why I mentioned Memphis being willing to trade up to take Beasley. You're drafting for need by getting the best player in the draft.

To me, it's simple: Beasley, Rose, Bayless and Mayo are the four best picks for the Miami Heat. Any other player would be a disappointment.
If we missed out on Beasley and Rose then I'd be content with Mayo/Randolph, Love, then Bayless.

Beasley being the best player in the draft has now become an arguable statement. Teams wouldn't be considering Rose if they were #1 if that were completely true. I think the best spot for the Grizzlies would be #2 and hope that the team that wins the #1 spot needs a PG more than a PF.

Michael Beasley should be the #1 overall pick for the Heat, because they could really use a #2 option on offense outside of Wade. Marion is a great player and all, but isn't really that good and creating his own shot. Beasley would open things up and give the Heat a strong inside out game with him and Wade.

Okay, here's the reality. Memphis gets the 2nd pick. The team who gets the first pick takes Beasley. What would you do? Draft another point? Or would you try and make a trade with the team with the 1st pick to balance your team out, so that you don't have to try and trade Conley.
I think it would be easier for you to try and trade for Beasley since he is no longer considered the best player in the draft by giving up something of decent value, maybe Miller?, to balance your team. Beasley, Warrick, Gay, and Conley looks a lot better than Warrick, Gay, Conley, and Rose.

Rose gaining momentum
As Tuesday's draft lottery approaches, the buzz builds around Memphis point guard Derrick Rose, whom a growing number of teams now favor over Kansas State power forward Michael Beasley, one NBA personnel official asserted.
The Heat told one NBA person it leans toward Rose if it picks first, though a Heat official cautioned there is no decision. An official with another team who spoke to Miami was left believing Pat Riley loves Rose, but Beasley also has some support internally.
So whom should Miami take if it picks first? We asked more than a dozen basketball people -- NBA executives, college coaches and TV commentators -- and more than two-thirds said Rose. Some feedback:

I beg to differ with this quote.
When you have such players as a Rasheed Wallace, Tim Duncan, Dirk Nowitzki, and other big men alike, and the attention they garner, the game comes easier for others around them. But, with some of the better PGs in the league you can say the same, but what have Nash and Kidd, for arguments sake done.
I know it's a weak statement, but I'd rather have the better big man than the better PG, unless we're speaking about an elite PG in the mold of a Jason Kidd/Steve Nash to go alongside a complete team....
''You take Rose because the game is becoming increasingly guard oriented,'' one team's scouting director said. ``Guards who have that combination of speed and power have increasing impact in the league. And if Miami doesn't take Rose, they will continue to have a huge point guard problem. They can do without a great power forward more than a great point guard.''

Not really. Chris Paul is a great creator and that helps, but West is by no means a product of Chris Paul.
David West can get BUCKETS. No problem, without being spoon fed. He's without a doubt a bonafide clearout player.
70% of his points come from high post isolations. He is a beast. He's KILLING Duncan right now.

I'm starting to feel the Rose hype. The biggest thing that is grinding away at me in his favor is his attitude and passion for the game. He seems to have great direction and plays very well on a talented team.
I feel the same way about Love. I was checking the top 15 of Ford's mock and was singling out points per shot and Love was at 1.7! That trumps anybody in the draft. I am a big fan of efficient players, and having watched Love play so well for UCLA I'm very much in favor of picking him if we don't get 1 or 2. I also wouldn't mind adding another lotto pick to pair him with Rose. That would be ideal.
I like a lot of the players in this draft, but the keys to a real successful team are having great teammates. I believe Rose and Love are perfect in this regard.
I'm a big fan of Mayo, Beasley, and Randolph, but success is key and Rose and Love fit in so well with their respective teams. I can't imagine how many easy points our team would have if both Rose and Love were on it.
