i was hesitant about oden at 1st but at this point i feel it's the only thing out there that could potentially make us better

we're falling behind the arms race (altho we have the only WMD on the market)
if wade gets hurt again lebron will be forced to put up Wilt numbers

unless lamar odom feels like taking a massive paycut

sorry BUT - FOCK EM - not a good day today for him - BTW - we may just get him

Agreed, we'd definitely have to change our defense when Oden is out there. I really don't think I'd be able to watch him run out to hedge on a screen without cringing.

remember what shaq looked like when he tried to do it, every C that comes to our team is forced to play that way...WE CHANGE the way a traditional C plays instead of making a small adjustment to preserve or utilize better.

Which is why I don't get excited anymore about the "non featured" players.....they are plug and play...basically are hired to do HEAT STUFF

These are not small changes.... that you are suggesting. The ability to run out on screens, defend the perimeter and switch is the bases of our defense. Oden most likely will not be a player who gets big minutes, and that will not be enough to change our defense. He is going to have to be able apply his ability to execute our defense. Naturally he is not best suited for that and then you add weak knees to the equation.

If we add Oden, its likely he will be just a utility guy or specialist. Basically only plays when we are struggling against big centers or foul trouble (very similar to how they used Pittman). And I know most of yall think he will be regular rotation players, that is having wayyyy too high of expectation.

really?

we need to get a center who hasnt played in 3 seasons. has had 3 major surgeries to the most pivotal part of his lower extremities (when it comes to bball i mean hmmph.. 8-) ) and doesnt know when hell be ready?

we dont have to get oden. in fact we dont have to get anybody. we already have a set rotation of 8 players. adding anyone else that can contribute is just a bonus. its the reason we had to let mike go. sure he was a great shooter and always hustled but the fact is he costs too much to be a 9-10th guy in the rotation for major parts of the season. we have rashard who should step in his place.

Indiana's only going to get better through age, they're young and it's automatic that they become better through age and chemistry. We've added no one, Oden is all potential and we lose nothing if he's injured most of the year, but if he's healthy for 15-25 minutes a game he could be amazing!

Lol if wade was healthy, the series would have been a wrap. Lets stop pretending that the pacers can keep up with the heat if both teams are healthy. C'mon now..

I would like for us to make a move, but would feel confident even if we add noone as long as we stay healthy.

Has Timofey Mozgov been resigned yet? I'd gamble on him before Oden.

I agree with your post, which is why ODEN does not fit IMO - We already have 2 BIGS that DO what THIS DEFENSE dictates, we just need them to PLAY and not OVERWORK Bosh...@ C - instead of these short rotations

Need a 10-13 ppg 9+ rpg guy to contest in paint and take minutes on opponents' bigs.

I would match it. I dont think there is another player out there for 3 mil that could help that much. More than likely oden would get injured again, but if he can stay healthy it would be a big boost.

On the other hand, if i am oden, i am trying to get as much guaranteed money as possible.

gonna keep my eye on this...we'll see what MR. ODEN wants to do, not sure if WE want more than 1 year..but you never know.....Just wonder if any other team is offering more?

Idk guys, this isn't looking good for the HEAT.. i mean a guy who is 25 and hasn't received a pay check in a year, is obviously going to take the money (you can't really blame him for that).

The main thing is that, after him we are looking at the likes of Marcus Camby, who is ancient. And idk if Mosgov is an option.. as i haven't heard anything about them. I would suck if we walked out of free-agency with empty handed.

I hope this Oden thing happens.. but the Pelicans are trying very hard to make sure we dont get him.

This Greg Oden..

The city you'll play for? Miami
The franchise player you'll play with? Lebron
The team you'll play with? Defending Champions

The role you'll have? Starting Center

What more do you want, Oden? If he's being offered an extra 10-15 mill elsewhere, all the power to him. But if his market value is for the MLE, how can he possible turn down Miami?

Idk if any of that is gonna sound appealing over the extra money he will be getting. and you know Riley isn't ready to give that kind of money to someone who hasn't played in 4 years.
