Heat wants to make a trade (Lowry) and want to keep flexible to release a player to get a trade completed. Solidifying that starting point guard position first.

I could understand that and also that we can’t have 2 37 year old ineffective point guards on our lineup, but he should officially retire as a member of the Heat. I want to see it happen.

I’m like 95% sure it would’ve happened had we got Dame or Jrue, could still if we get Harden

Our single greatest problem last year was scoring, more specifically 3 point scoring. With that in mind, having lost Strus, that should open up for Duncan and give him the absolute green light that he used to have. If Duncan has a bounce back year, like a true bounce back year, with both his scoring and percentage, we go to a different level. If you add productive and efficient 3 point shooting from Herro and Richardson, then we may actually have something here that’s worth a damn.

Off topic but ... "Dame is loyal!"

Spoiler:
Damian Lillard Files for Divorce

The former Trail Blazers guard embarks upon a season of transition.

Former Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard has undergone a huge professional transition this week, being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks after 11 years as the face of the northwest franchise. Now news has broken that he will undergo a serious personal transition as well. Sophie Peel of the Willamette Week revealed today that Lillard and his wife Kay’La are divorcing. They were married in September of 2021 and had been dating since Lillard’s college years.

There’s no way to put this kind of thing in perspective. As someone who has gone through it, the amount of stress and change is staggering. And that’s just in the areas you anticipate. The unforeseen parts of the journey are potentially harder yet. This will not be easy on Damian or Kay’La Lillard, nor their children. Coupled with the Milwaukee move, the cascading intensity of the transition is nearly unfathomable.

I offer condolences and hopes for a steady transition for the Lillard family, especially for their children. May they find a way to negotiate a path forward that leaves space for everyone to grieve and grow.

We’ve always taken the approach that NBA players are human beings first, athletes second. In this moment, let us all remember same.

Also, no more Oladipo.

Love the dude, but he was building brick houses last year.

Our 3s average would be better this year for sure.

They all were. None of them could shoot a 3 worth a damn until they playoffs started. That is why we caught everybody off guard.

I wanted Dame and was excited but something tells me, in the long run, keeping Jovic will be better.

I hope we get a real chance to see what he has in him at the NBA level this year. And I don’t mean just have him be on the floor… I mean run an offense with his skill set in mind while he is on the floor.

I think its Spo's wet dream to have a player like Jovic and his skillset, you can tell he tried last year for a few games to implement point forward style in combo with Bam playing point center as well, and it was doing some good things but Jovic wasn't ready then, and also he got hurt. I think now you have a confident young player coming off a good summer league (were he was the main guy when on the floor), a good fiba tournament (were he was the second guy and closer for that team) This makes the Jimmy comment of loving him walking around with his chest out, means lots of confidence. I mean why wouldn't you, you got size, ball handling, shooting, passing skills in a PF NBA body.

Kid also has Kevin Love as a mentor… a passing/rebounding/3pt shooting force in this league. Literally the perfect mentor for Jovic’s skillset! If Bam/Butler also mentor him on the defensive side… so that he holds his own on the defensive side, he will be a great player for us.

He is a fun story to look forward to.

My fantasy lineup after allstar break once the kids get into the NBA rhythm :

Herro
JJJ
Jimmy
Jovic
Bam

4 of the starting 5 will be pre-prime and continue to improving for a while.

What I don't want to see is Love and Lowry getting big minutes to be mediocre at best and holding back the future.

It is Spo’s wet dream. Jovic is literally the best type of player you can put next to Bam. They are about the same height and can both play the point-big type of role. The difference is Jovic is probably a better and more natural scorer while Bam can score if he is aggressive but he is def a better defender. Jovic is going to get cooked on defense, but at the same time, the league doesn’t have a lot of traditional power forwards like Charles Barkley that can power you down. The game is more of a finesse and forward game now as opposed to power. Finesse and footwork can be taught. Hopefully he at least becomes a decent defender one day.

We have a few different lineups we can go to that are def intriguing. I think this is the most interesting one. That would make us a pretty decent sized team with 3 out of 5 good defenders at any given time.

Herro, Caleb, Jimmy, Jovic, Bam seems to be the most robust lineup, Jovic is the type of player that can improve our offense and gives us rebounding and size at the PF spot, while Caleb provides defensive wing help next to Herro. Caleb is also far better scorer from an attack standpoint at this stage vs a Lowry.

Spo will start J Rich over Caleb because in this system Spo has entrusted J Rich to be a primary ball handler in the past. Caleb will come in with Lowry.

The more we forecast these lineups, the more I realize we have a good squad! Wish we would have grabbed a player like Dennis Schroeder. We would be solid if we had!

You think Toronto would want to be reunited with Lowry? A farewell tour type of trade to allow Lowry to close out his career in Toronto?

Dennis + OG for Lowry and picks?

Doubt the Raps would trade OG for Lowry and picks. I think they value him a lot more than that. But anything is possible I suppose given OG is up for a contract renewal.
