Why don't I remember Shane Jones? Is he a glitch in the matrix? Did I get sucked into a parallel universe? I had never heard that name until the TNT announcer listed all the Heat players who have won the 3 point contest. Maybe TNT made a mistake?

Credit to Rapaz for earlier:
1995 - Glen Rice
2007 - Jason Kapono
2009 - Daequan Cook
2011 - James Jones
2025 - Tyler Herro

Either you misheard or they made a mistake. It would have been James Jones I assume.
They said Shane and the captions say Shane, so it was a TNT mistake.

I think the framework/concept was fine but the execution wasn't great. Could be better with some tweaks like making the games a little longer and getting rid of the rising stars team (Draymond was right - why TF are these scrubs, most of whom will never sniff an all-star game, playing on Sunday of all-star weekend?). Even as bad as it was, it was still more competitive than prior years, so there was at least marginal improvement. These guys will NEVER care as much as hockey players do for the 4 nations chit, so everyone can just stop with the comparisons to that event now lol.

Every year for the last 20 years the all star game looks like a badly put together awards show.. like the BET awards..

There are hot mics placed everywhere to a bunch of people who are not that interesting, they think theyre interesting/funny but theyre not..

Lots of dead air moments, lots of fake manufactured moments to go viral..

They thought they did something by putting LiAngelo Ball to perform because of a single that was hot for 15 minutes, crowd was mild throughout his performance..

The dunk contest has been bad for years and now some white guy that isnt even in the nba is winning it.

And then top it off with the actual game itself lol

I say get rid of the weekend and just give everyone a week off.

They should make it like the Source Awards during the East coast/West coast rap war in the 90's :P.
I wish they'd start up that war again. It was fun to watch.

Its not like we had cap space every year and didn't spend it, or teams were bending over to offer us star players and we were declining the offers. And its well known the team did what it could to go after players like Durant/Giannis, just could not seal the deal.

Who is the player or offer we didn't get that was on the table and turned down? At best you can argue Damian Lillard, and there's a lot of nuance to that. First off we clearly tried. Second, his agent sabotaged everything by specifying only Miami which made the league step in and strongly encourage Portland to send him elsewhere. Third, Portland's GM had the same thought process and did not want to deal with Miami for that reason. Fourth, our best potential package is arguably equivalent or outplaying what we would have gotten from Lillard this season, with Herro arguably matching Lillard's production, Niko at least playing at the level of a rotation player, and the draft pick turning into Ware.

So all you're left with is, "but what about last season", to which I say, what about last season? Lillard was underwhelming last year and declined in just about every category (his bounce back this season is impressive, but only puts him roughly on par to what Herro is doing for us), and if he had joined the team you still have Jimmy who missed the entire playoffs. I guess you can try to make the argument the entire vibe is different and that squad wins a chip, but I'm not buying it.

But I also think personally you're a little more impatient to see something happen because you're irrationally invested in Bam, and freaking out about the possibility some of his prime is wasted. To which I'll remind you, Wade lost 3 years of his prime to injury/waiting around for flexibility, and we got 2 championships and 4 finals appearances out of it.

We can agree to disagree. It has literally nothing to do with Bam and everything to do with Jimmy’s age.

Dame is WAY better than Herro still to this day by the way

Not in this year's 3 point contest.

Zing!

Still on his shtick :nonono: sh*t’s on everybody that ain’t his bf & this after he just won the 3pt comp. Kid’s a str8 up classless loser.
If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade

I dont mind the format. I dislike all this back and forth chitty banter. Just shut the hell up and let the allstars play ball.

Hart hasn’t been funny for a long time. He was annoying & took away frm basketball. Nba continue to f*ck up & overthink things to generate interest. Re-structure contracts so players earn their money so they give a sh*t & are competitive.

$8.50 for the 3pt comp. Nice profit w/ both Tyler & Clung taking dunk comp.

Sry for bombardment of posts. Im away entire AS weekend & finally some free time. This is last before i head off.

Confidently, i told everybody i know Tyler wld take out the 3pt comp. Everyone laughed at me & so made some hefty wagers w/ few of them & my book. The money was nice but Herro winning was enough for me.

Vry proud of Herro. There’s a lot of work behind it all. Young fella having himself one hell of a yr.

Nothing to apologize for, it’s always nice when you’re away. We don’t have to see posts about your morale highground schtick you love so much and hear you talk about class when you have none or have to hear about how much of a degenerate gambler you are daily.
