Would be unfair on McBob but I'd do it, however Monroe has to agree with any trade now that he has accepted that offer.
Can't see Monroe turning down the Heat for a 1 year rental. Has to be better than playing in Detroit for a team he obviously isn't seeing eye to eye with. McBob being a 4 year deal (rather than the 2 year deals we have everyone else on) is probably one of our worst contracts now, so unloading him even if its only for a 1 year rental of Monroe wouldn't be bad.
So is it official? Has Monroe accepted that qualifying or is it still a threat?
Miami makes sense for him, I think he's a much better fit next to Bosh than next to Drummond.
But it would be a very risky move for him. It would be a mid-year trade, so no training camp, he'd have to adjust quickly. If he fails to adjust quickly and underperforms, he could lose a lot of money next summer.
And he's not some physical freak or just a scorer who does pretty much the same thing regardless of who his teammates are. He needs to understand teammates, system, he's a good passer and a pretty good scorer, but he can also be a turnover machine.
If I was his agent, I would advise him to finish the year in Detroit, if he starts the season well. If he gets into Stan Van Gundy's doghouse or something, then it's different.
