If PG13 is so risky to become just a 1 year rental, should we not try to trade for Butler instead in a effort to get Hayward on board ?

Not sure our assets are enough to get Butler. The reasons our assets will net us PG is due to him being a possible rental.

If we trade for him Thursday, would we have the right to offer him more than anyone next offseason?

If we go into next year with Dragic, PG, GH and Whiteside as our big 4, I do not see George leaving unless LeBron really goes to the Lakers. And if he does, I dont see how they sign him and PG with their cap situation.

We have nothing to offer for Porzingas. Plus the Knicks are trying to attach a bad contract with him. Knicks seem to be looking for a top 5 pick. The Suns are the team to be watching out for as they have been linked to Love and now are probably heavily involved in the Porzingas sweepstakes considering the latest rumor is the Knicks would like to take Josh Jackson with the 4th pick.

Our best shot at a cost effective whale right now is Paul George. And that's only because his value has been diminished due to forcing the Pacers hand. Gordon Hayward would be nice to get but it's going to cost us 30 million plus in order to sign him. Leave's us with little to nothing to build around him. If we are able to trade outgoing contracts for George it opens the door wide to sign Hayward and maybe have a little left over to sign JJ.

I would like to do a Hassan Whiteside trade in exchange for Kristaps Porzingis. Then, in free agency, we could pursue Serge Ibaka. This could be the fastest team in the NBA. Good defense. And all 5 players can shoot from beyond the arc.
