What number was he predicted to be taken in draft previews?

I did say to you guys we'd be better to trade the pick and then go after undrafted/DL players.
I remember when the Dolphins were perennial contenders

I know nothing about draftees but from what you are all saying sounds like we could've traded down and still got this one.

Did Jazz trade up to 13 because they thought we'd take Mitchell?

I'll admit, he does have some heat in him. Like dion said you gotta be a dog to play here and bam is definitely a dog. He plays really hard

WE picked a dog in the middle of the cat era.

He's unplayable next to Hassan. He's a 10 minutes a night player for the next 3 seasons.

This the best we could do?

Well willie reed is gonna be gone, so we needed a backup big anyway. We were never going to get a starting 4 in this draft. I woulda rather had Justin Jackson in that range, but bam fits an area of need if we're gonna try to re sign dion and jj. If he can develop an outside shot then I think he'll be a real compliment to our team. I don't think he's a bad pick, but I can't help but wonder if we coulda got him later in the round.

Off the top of my head I think draftexpress had him at 19. Others had him in the 20's. Before the season though, people thought he'd be a top 10 pick. He was ranked really high in this hs class. I mean he's definitely an "upside" pick.

According to Barry Jackson, we wanted kennard or Mitchell, but when they were gone we decided to go big and this was the big we liked best I guess.

If the 3pt shooting he showed in workouts is not a fluke, I believe Bam Attaboy-O can become a pretty good player for us.

I like this pick. I do not know that much about him but he looks to be an Ama're Stoudamire type. Dragon to Bam pick and roll might be fun to watch. If he can hit the Elbow jumper it will help this offense a lot as well.

If this long distance shooting carries over into his NBA game, then great!

If the plan is to have him play solely inside though, then the move is a bit of a head scratcher.

This pick could have simply been a matter of drafting the player the Heat thought was best available. It never hurts to have talent, especially talent that can play in the paint. Spo can figure out what to do with him this year and Riley can further craft a long term plan as the cards fall.

Good video I was looking to see if their was any videos of his workouts shooting. I cant lie he looks comfortably good shooting deep in that video. That makes me very optimistic.

I see a guy who can run with Goran and doesn't panic when he gets switched on to guards.

Guys like 19? He is a blank slate who can grow up in the Heat culture. Let's hope we get JJ back, I want bam to see what that kind of versatility brings

Calipari talking about Bam:

“Right now everybody is stunned at how Bam shoots the ball,” he said. “I must have had 10 calls. Like, ‘I didn’t realize he shot the ball this way.’ But they also didn’t realize Karl shot the ball that way and you also didn’t realize that Anthony shot the ball the way he does. And so you would think following this thing how we do it, they all have to share, they all have to give up something to each other to be able to do what they’re doing here.”

For the record, Karl Anthony-Towns took all of 3 three pointers in college. I think it's worth reserving judgement on how Bam will fit given that we don't have an idea yet on the full scope of his game. High energy guys thrive in Spo's system.

He looks more comfortable than Winslow shooting. Also, I have heard every indication he is a workout warrior and if he improved his shot like that during the offseason that is a big big sign of what type of player he is. Physically Bam is a top ten talent. Skill wise, before coming to Kentucky people expected more skill. Crossing the fingers that much of his skills were just not utilized in Kentucky. Defensively potentially, Winslow, Bam and Whiteside could be a big team defensive trio. From Spo history, I am expecting to see Spo experiment early in the season starting Bam, Winslow and Whiteside.

He was selected because he has an NBA body and can lay some wood on people. When you are playing 4 quarters of basketball and know that there are big bodies guarding the paint, you are less likely to go in there. On the other end of the floor, who wants to keep running into that from what I read, when he sets a screen, they get stuck.

If he can play on the court with Hassan, you now have a weakside rebounder when Whiteside goes for blocks. He shouldnt get pushed around in the paint.
