Money, with the new TV deal coming it's a new item they can bill for.

It's going to be really hard to watch these games with the courts. I get the idea of dramatically changing the courts to signify this money grab tourney but holy **** is it hard to watch a game.

They're trying to force a tourneyy down people's throats so the media has something else to talk about other then game 7. The play-in had a purpose and a nice result for the league, this really doesn't do anything but they'll try to find something to make it worth people watching.

I don't even know if I can even stand to look at any of these courts much, I'm glad I cancelled my NBA League Pass.

Yeah, they're really looking to monetize everything in the last few years, adding advertising on clothing, NBA League Pass this year has a bunch of forced adds you can't skip that you can pay extra to get rid of. Back to streaming games off the internet for me.

It's odd, they're making TONS of money but it's not enough, they have to degrade the product to make more money.

I really don’t get this in season tournament at all

I get it from a tv rights perspective. The NBA is trying to make more money. From a fan perspective, we are watching teams play regular games that don’t have any real meaning, for more money. No real stakes.

Also, if we have a court as ugly as that Indians court, then god help us.
