Easily Jazz. Why would they want an extra year of Herro's contract instead of keeping Collins which would be an expiring after next season. Makes no sense for them. We would have to send a pick to them to make it work

Uhhhhh because they’re getting 4 1sts and some swaps with 2 young guys to go on a young team that can easily be flipped if needed with their boat load of picks for a star.

The Jazz aren’t getting free agents

They're not a FA destination and may prefer Herro over either Sexton or Clarkson.

They have Hendricks starting at the 4 and one of Keldon/Cody Williams could slide in small ball situations. Also they have Filipowski who they will probably try to give some time next to Kessler.

Ainge will trade with anyone as long as he knows he’s fleecing someone.

Herro never stopped living out of his suitcase since The Bubble.

They can still get those picks from Spurs and get Keldon Johnson without Miami being part of it. No one is dying for Herro. That won't change if he's part of the Jazz. That would be a contract they get stuck with. And if they move Lauri they are at least 3 or 4 seasons from actually trying to be good. There's no one in the draft next year or year after who is going immediately be great like a Wemby or Luka. For a couple seasons they would need their young guys to develop so their focus would be getting picks and movable contracts. Herro is not an easily movable contract.
If we attach our first to the deal, then they might do it. There has to be something extra for the Jazz to take on Herro contract

That’s why I keep saying trading Herro is so important. We could afford 2 max’s that offseason.

We cannot spend any assets beyond that year which is another reason I hated the Rozier trade.

The plan should be to clean the books by that offseason. Get whatever you can in expirings and picks for anything of value that expires before then.

This feels like going all in Blockbuster videos after Netflix has entered the picture.

Times have changed and if you dont evolve you get destroyed. With the new CBA even if you have cap space you are asking players to take millions of dollars in losses to just sign here. It really doesn't make much sense any more. Luka can get more resigning, player X gets more resigning. Also by having just capspace that means you dont have any foundational pieces short of Bam, that means trying to fill the team with vet mins or players off the street. The game has changed.

Sign and trades would be an option where the other team gets a gigantic TPE or picks (Which hopefully will be replenished at that point).

The new CBA is a little ridiculous and should be evened back out next time. FA is too dead

I was just coming to post this about sign and trades. I also agree about FA being trash now. I hope they fix it.

If we trade JB and Herro, our team is going to struggle some. We will be lottery unless we see some super performances. We could sneak in to the top 4 and do a quick turnaround rebuild with a roster flush with nice role players. We need that blue chip guy to lead us and the draft is the only way.

Then, when the kids are groomed and ready to help challenge for the crown, we will have max money. Thats how you do it.

That. Is. How. You. Do. It.

I dont like the potential of bringing Caleb back. Let Pelle play. Let OKC pay him.

His brother Cody only makes 8m.

Maybe Mia can figure out a deal to get him instead.

And in a separate deal get Bridges too 8-)
