Personally would prefer we are not paying Tyler 27mil to play 14mins off the bench. That money would be better used to sign guys to fill out our roster.
Have to assume he’d play his 30 mins a night still. Wouldn’t be the best use of 27 mill tho given the rest of the roster.
Playing Herro and Beal together in the back court gonna be rough defensively.
I'd actually prefer we try salary dump Herro and get cash and some picks.
I calculated it wrong when I suggested the trade of Herro to SA for cap space and picks.
If we were able to salary dump him we could get up to 22mil under the tax and use our MLE, Re-Sign Gabe, Strus and Love and still have enough to fill out the roster with vet mins/Undrafted guys and stay under the 2nd tax apron.
Then you could maybe hope for CP3 to get waived/traded and bought out and sign him at the Vet Min.
Some C/PF options that could fall in the MLE range. Rui Hachimura, PJ Washington (If Charlotte don't retain him), Grant Williams, Kyle Kuzma, Christian Wood, Brook Lopez (doubtful), Jakob Poeltl.
Some of these guys will likely get more elsewhere but free cap space around the league is scarce this season and there a quite a few teams that won't be able to access their full MLE, so if guys want to move from their current teams they may be forced to take less.
CP3/Gabe
Beal/Strus
Butler/Martin
MLE/Highsmith
Bam/Robinson
That's about as stacked as we can get.
