We probably missed our best crack at him in the draft. He seems to have checked off all the boxes in terms of the type of player/character we like too. With the way he’s playing there’s no way Atlanta wont match any offer.

For what it’s worth Collins was my pick for us in that draft. I wanted the local kid from Palm Beach.

Very flawed team, but our Freudian attachment to bigs won't let us admit it.

Start Yanni at the 5 and that's probably enough for this series

Capela 19 boards and Collins 15 boards. That’s big dominance. Death to small ball

Teams led by bigs<<

I don't have any other opinions about bigs that matters tbh

All the folks that believed Bucks are too big to lose or want to watch Giannis run into traffic like a blind chicken every play though-- I don't get.

Cmon Bish. Bucks ran into a team that has bigs that match up well against there bigs. ATL just took out Embiid with Capela and Collins. Did you not watch how Ayton dominated last night for the Suns? Small ball never wins chips. D’Antoni has been trying for many many years. He keeps getting fired.

Never? Since when? Heat Big 3 won 2. Warriors recently won 3. That's an absurd take.

Nets would've walked all over this conference if they were healthy. Talent >size

How many times does Bucks have to get embarrassed by a lesser team before we admit that. We ran through the Bucks as a smaller team last yr and only lost to more talented team

The take is not absurd and the Heat small ball was in name only. 6’11 Bosh 6’9 Lebron 6’8 Battier was not a small front court especially with Lebron pushing close to 250 of pure muscle. Warriors 2015/16 had Bogut at Center with Green and 6’9 Barnes at SF, 2017 thru 2019 Pachulia, Green, and Durant. Towards the 2019 year which was Durant’s final year they had Cousins but he got hurt and had to rely on Looney. They lost in those finals after all the injuries to a big Toronto team. Even the Warriors death linups had size with Durant.

Taking our Heat team for instance at points we had

Bam 6’9 250 (essentially Lebron size at Center not the 4 spot.

PF Trevor Ariza 6’8 200 PF Andre Iguodala 6’6 220

SF Jimmy Butler 6’7 230

That’s way too undersized and at points Spo would go with Herro at 3 with Nunn and Dragic in the back court. What we saw this year out of the Heat and coaching staff and even the front office was a travesty.

Breh, this is insane mental gymnastics

All those teams were known for small ball because that's what they played a majority of the time.

If it has another definition for you, that's cool. We're probably talking about two different things

I guess i’m trying to correlate it more towards how Spo played with our lineups this year and the lack of size at certain positions compared to the teams still left in playoffs. There’s small ball and then there’s extreme D’Antoni and Spo circa 2021 small ball.

Our team last year was smaller than our team this year, we're not in the playoffs because of an overall decline in talent and a more talented East.

I don't get being hung up on our size, when it might've been of our smaller issues (no pun intended)

Crowder at the 4 spot might have been only 6’6 but he was stout and able to board and defend the low post unlike Ariza and Iguodala. We also played Kelly 7’0/Bam 6’9 lineups. We did not have that option this year. Iguodala was also the primary backup SF for that team last year. It took Spo all the way to the final games of the year to even try Bam with Dedmon after all hope was lost against Bucks front line.

Yea', I'm back to mental gymnastics-- the differences that mattered between this yr and last were based on talent. Size is a more physical scape goat for our misgivings, I think, only thing that makes sense to me

Good job Hawks, bad job coaching Bucks. Did not understand the Bucks defensive strategy vs the Hawks.

Return to Miami Heat
