Fck, that means we either pulled the trigger with Kirie, and Durant said fck you guys I am not staying so he is going somewhere else but we got Kirie. Or Miami changed it up and held their ground until they got the big fish....WOOOFFFF!!!

Never doubted you. Even when several others here—you know who you are—were DMing me calling you the “Cuban Broussard.”

Sometimes you just gotta admit you made a mistake and jump at the chance of another team looking to bail you out. We have to stop paying undrafted flash in the pan role players significant money with the thought of the league bailing us when that player turns into a clunkin.
So far the most significant deals made have been multiple draft picks attached to expiring’s. Most of these teams even if they have the space don’t want to be paying a head case one dimensional shooter who gets in feelings when he misses close to 80 mil for the next 4 years. You have to pay to get that off the roster.
The goal right now is to find a team that thinks they can rehabilitate him. Yes you have to pay a team to do that. The Suns look like a great fit for that. The sweetener will most likely be using Yurtseven but that’s the cost of doing business.
Leave with Crowder and Craig and 15 million in expiring’s. Save 3 million off the cap. Get two stop gap players at the 4 who play defense and fit the system. Add after that accordingly. We can keep dreaming about some team taking Duncan for a star but it’s not happening. Maybe in 2K
Shooters like Robinson still command a certain value in the league. While Robinson had a bad season last year, he still averaged 11ppg and shot 37% from 3.
A team has to a pay a premium for Robinson, but it isn't tons more than Kennard, Joe Harris, or Doug McDermott especially when you consider the last year of Robinson deal is only partially guaranteed. At any rate, it seems there are a couple of teams willing to take a chance on Robinson, probably because in NBA circles he is considered, at minimum, a top-10 shooter in the league (if not top-5).
The big issue is Miami needs that salary space Robinson is occupying to add more talent (plus Miami has a lot of talent at guard), otherwise I think Miami would give him another season.
Naw man. Duncan is owed 3 more year at around 18 mil a year. This is a person who could not get off the bench when we needed fresh bodies. If you want to make that argument that a player making 18 mil for at least 3 more years and 4th year with 9 mil guarantied, one that can't get on the court, is an "asset", more power to you man more power. Its almost like hearing a used car sales man say this car is a "steal", she's got some "value", she's a fixer upper.
For the same amount of money we can keep PJ and Diopo, he makes more than Ayton qualifying offer, Brunson who people here are considering over paid would make 7 mil more a year than Duncan salary and dude avg 25 points a game in the playoff. If people thing Brunson is over paid at 25 and he actually plays on the court, what do you think people really think about Duncan who can't get on the court when it matters....
The Heat runs a pretty unorthodox ship, in that they are willing to forego offense for defense. Even Herro lost minutes in the playoffs. Miami had/has a lot of talent at guard and so players can have a shorter leash.
Robinson played his way out of the starting lineup, but it's just one season. Don't forget Robinson was a starter on a Heat team that made the Finals (he averaged over 30mpg in the Finals and averaged ~12ppg on 40 fg% and 39 3pt%). So, he has proven he can be on the court "when it matters."
I agree 100% that Robinson is overpaid; I was vehemently opposed to Miami giving Robinson anything above $14-15M a season and argued that a salary in that range was at the high-end for players with a similar skillset (150% of the MLE).
That said, shooting is highly valued and playoff teams will take a chance on elite shooters, which Robinson is (while we can acknowledge that he is offers very little outside of that skillset). Dallas just took a flyer on Bertans, and his contract is on par with Robinson's. Kevin Heurter, Derrick White, Luke Kennard, Evan Fournier, and Eric Gordon are all on contracts similar to Robinson's. Of course, there are good shooters on much better contracts, but those guys are unlikely to become available, making overpaid shooters a commodity for the right team.
We'll find out soon enough what the market for Robinson is.
