How would you all react to getting a 5% raise after not getting one for about 4 years, running a department by yourself (not skipping a beat), working extra hours and getting assurances by your manager that you are a key employee and she would take care of you?

pissed

5% is pretty low for 4 years with impeccable work ethic.

What would you do?

What would you do?

Ultimatum.

Demand a higher raise, your work speaks for itself and understandable for you to get more.

Nah man, dont think like that. It doesn't take anything away from how hard you work. If they truly value you, you would know to demand more, if not, hit the market. I'm sure the next company would snatch you up asap with your work ethic.

I would go 15% imo. Heck go for abit higher if you know how to negotiate and can meet in the middle.

Goodboy suddenly being real. Now I’m starting to respect the guy and I feel bad he never won a banner.

Listen sky, I’m not going to say what I think you should do. What I would do tho is tell them I was hoping for more, give them a number (3% per year is most industry norms), and then see what they say. If they explained why I was not worth that much, I would ask why, especially if I had superb performance reviews. If they held firm and I did not see myself continuing with the company, I would explore other options. The grass is not always greener tho.

As for my current job, I’m very happy being a realgm message board writer. I am curious when my paycheck is going to come tho. Will have to talk with my supervisor (MettaWorldPanda).

I'm a very therapeutic person IRL imho. I can be a great source of comfort and relief (no homo) and make your day very pleasant with motivation/encouragement.

Yeah, 3% a year, so 12-15% raise for 4 years seems pretty well-off to ask for. Exploring other options would be my ideal take if they don't budge. Besides, why work for a company that doesn't value you and cant accommodate average yearly raises? Like this board for example, Its why I spend most of my time on the Spurs board, but drop on occasion here in hopes to getting my banner this up-coming season. But seriously, I would start exploring other opportunities while remaining employed with this one.

It wasn’t a game to some. Iggie still MIA since the murder. Plus, Panda wasn’t even on murder mystery. If Panda was murdered and I ended up being the murderer, there are so many different ways he could get me in trouble with realgm HR department.

Tbh I just listed the first 16 or however many people I saw posting and then just kept rerunning the game till Chalm didn’t win.

Goodluck.

5% is too low for going on 4 years of stagnant pay.

I know some mech engineers who bounced after 1 year of no raises or bonuses, even though their work brings in huge profits for the company. Gotta know your worth.

Just have a plan B if this place is cutthroat if you ask for more.

I'm probably too late to say, but don't make any threats that you aren't prepared to act on, cause you could end up looking considerably weak or be unemployed

I'd search the field for a new job and a solid offer first, then calculate what you think would be reasonable with a mental note on how long you won't wait and/or how low you won't go, but wouldn't advise doing anything more.

So apparently my last raise was in 2016, there was a "increase freeze". Therefore the 5% was for 2018 only...

They should accommodate and make up for that time for this year, if they could and can afford to do so.

My guess would be if they don't, that's when the employees start to bolt due to low morale by the company.

How some people are able to convince others to get that raise is a skill I have never mastered. I just go looking for another job that pays more. If you figure it out lmk.

Realgm message board writing doesn’t pay like it used to. goodboy hurts the and1’s on this board like no one before.
