The landscape of NBA trades has truly changed the last couple decades or so. We only gave up 1 single solitary 1st round pick for 31 year old Shaq the summer of 2004. Now you got Gobert going for 5. Absurd.

Windhorst saying a deal is far from being done. He's been on the money with Brooklyn and Utah this offseason. For him to report on behalf of Nets that they are nowhere close on the deal and that they are regrouping likely means a deal is not close. Even if it's a leverage tactic, going public like that definitely points away from a deal that's close to the finish line.

Take a grain of salt for Farthorst. Shams and Woj both mention we are both in the race.
