Should he be? I mean, aren't we supposed to be putting out our best players right now? This isn't a youth thing because Jaime Jaquez is playing major minutes. He just happens to be ready.

Yes I think he should, he showed enough flashes to make me believe he can outproduce K.Love if given a consistent chance to get some rhythm.

He was a winning player for a team that got to the world championships finals, it's not like he's some clueless raw prospect.

He's a project and to put him in now on a team that's wanting to compete for a title means having to limit Jovic by having him play as a role-player for this season and that would mean him getting used to playing that specific way and training to be better in that role instead of continuing to work on his skill set that could make him a much more diverse player. He likes to handle the ball, but that skill isn't at a good NBA level so if he's in and tries to do it he'll probably not have success and start shying away from it to help the team and with that, limiting his growth.

If this were a bad team not trying to win, sure you give him reps, you let him make his mistakes and encourage him to keep going although he's making mistakes, currently Miami can't do that, they can't try to win games and be good with a lot of mistakes because this player is only x number of seasons from possibly being really good.

He is still a project. The first 3 0f 4 plays would have been a turnover at the NBA level. Plus he walked and got away with one.

I am on board the Jovic train but let him develop. Last year I was sure Highsmith was ready to take over PJs role but look at the difference of one extra year of development has done for him. Patience is the key. Jovic will get opportunities this year but circle next year as the year he is unleashed.

Honestly not sure what more I can say, dude is the best defensive player in the world and he has a decent amount of distance between him and 2nd.

Depends on the deal. I wouldn't be "shopping" him, but if someone calls with a deal that makes the team better no reason not to entertain it. Funny the base went from blaming the org. for his contract to considering him untouchable in a few months. It was always a decent contract as long as he shoots to his averages.

that was a good game, Swider went off.... you could see how Jovic and Drob would mesh so well.

Jovic had that dribble handoff game with Swider and it looked cool....it looked even better when they Faked the hand off and Jovic dropped the 3.

Jimmy after going to see Niko in the G league game said stop playing him at the 5 he’s not a 5! Jimmy being vocal to the coachin staff that he may be ready already just not in the role they trying to put him in

That was ugly...

Side note...notice that Clemens dude on the bulls dropping his 3 point shot in from low earth orbit? That dude must have been an artillery spotter in a previous life...never quite seen a consistent shot like his.

I have to say I love this iteration of the Heat. They are so deep and so likable that it's a joy to watch this team. No Bam, no Tyler, no Love, Jimmy and Duncan having off scoring games? No freaking problem! Lowry returns from the grave, Jaquez looks like a star, Bryant and Robinson make Bam look expendable (not really), we get 64(!!!!) bench points, and we blow out a team on a win streak.

For those here that question Spo, how? Why? I mean, this team has his fingerprints all over it. That work ethic, the player development, and the ability to stay ready is all him. I'm watching this team and EVERY player is NBA caliber - All. Of. Them!!! That's preparation and that's scouting. The front office has done a masterful job picking these players (say what you want about not landing a star, but the players on this roster are all capable).

I just love the way this team looks. They're Miami culture personified...

Spo's early comment, 'We have one of those teams,' is becoming increasingly evident. The key for this season will be how well Jimmy, Bam, and Tyler can further develop their on-court chemistry and if Tyler, Bam can keep up their elevated level of play. Their progress, along with the consistent performance of the supporting cast, could be crucial. It's clear that this team has depth, and if they continue to play at this level, they have a solid chance this year. The focus and teamwork displayed so far are promising.

Any word on the severity of Dru Smith's injury? Did he have an MRI?
