Re: MIAMI HEAT Offseason Thread 2021 Vol.3
I think Duncan at 18 mil is a great number, I think 15-18 is pretty reasonable, once you starting getting to 20-22 mil that's when it gets dicey.
But at 18 mil? That's solid, I definitely see Miami matching that.

That means getting San Antonio to play ball via a S&T with Nunn. They might not want him. Duncan on the other hand I would think they would be all over. In this case you use the MLE to get shooters like Danny Green etc.
If you can get Lowry, Butler, DeRozan and Bam on the court, you just need a guy who can hit open 3s at a good clip and some more 3pt shooters to come in to play with 2 of those 4 most of the time.
Robinson is a great story, a great 3pt shooter but you add the dynamic at or near all-star players over a specialist. I don't even understand why there's any question about it, especially if you're wanting to go deep into the playoffs.

Don't think we'll pay Nunn
Not sure we'll keep Duncan.
biggest needs :
Starting PF
Legit backup PG (Vincent scars me)
Legit backup C (Dedmon?)
A versatile wing backup (KZ?)
Max Strus and Vincent most likely coming back for 1.7 each.
I like Strus I think he's a baller and will step up.
But Got to find a more reliable Backup PG then Vincent, Lowry isn't playing 82 games...we need someone we can trust to take some pressure off the old botty

Maybe in that case we send Duncan to SA and bring back Nunn.

Or bring back TJ for the Minimum.
The kid was fun as hell.
Don't think we can afford Nunn as a backup, We've still got to pay a starting PF.

Only obstacle would be the hard cap number. Nunn is a very nice backup guard imo.

We'll also have Oladipo down the stretch

Re: MIAMI HEAT Offseason Thread 2021 Vol.3
I'd bring back Nunn and Dipo if its reasonable.
Having Herro, Nunn, and multiple 1sts (hopefully soon) to move would give us room to possibly add another big piece down the road.

I wouldn't be in to much of a rush to trade Herro, unless it's for a superstar, but yes having that flexibility is nice for sure

Re: MIAMI HEAT Offseason Thread 2021 Vol.3
I think we should be looking to see if the Spurs want to make a run at Duncan or Nunn
If we can work out a sign and trade for DeMar, we can then go and use our full MLE to add Portis or Batum.

I keep forgetting about Portis when posting possible roster depth lineups lol, Portis would be great, and I think he would be my favorite big man to try and nab.
Lowry
Duncan
Jimmy
BAM
Portis

Re: MIAMI HEAT Offseason Thread 2021 Vol.3
In terms of third wave free agents..the guys that probably aren't getting big contracts, I wouldn't mind taking a look at someone like Harry Giles. He's wiry but at least has some athleticism and skill. I'm not opposed to Dedmon either but don't know if he can hold up over 82 games. I'll catch flak for this next one but Idc, I'd seriously consider Winslow or Stanley in that Iguodala role on the bench. if the tea leaves are right and we pick up who we are projected to we wont be hurting for scorers but we will be hurting for a younger body that can pester guys 1-4. DJJ was supposed to have that role before he got priced out, then we thought KZ would be that guy but he could be gone.

I do not mind bringing back Winslow to play the Iggy role. I think thats what best suited for him anyways. However, I do think it is a huge question mark about his health. I think the Heat have held back about his health as well as the Grizz. There is something chronic about his health.

Would not mind having Winslow again, or Stanley Johnson

Re: MIAMI HEAT Offseason Thread 2021 Vol.3
Let me just say this...
Miami has a path where they could go into the next 3 playoffs with a starting lineup of Lowry, Oladipo, Butler, DeRozan and Bam, that's a complete lineup of some all-stars and some fringe all-star talent. Without a top 5 guy, this is about as good as you can get, you have a whole starting 5 that can defend, be able to switch everyone and be in good shape, create their own shot and create for others, there is a lack of 3pt shooters but Lowry shot 40% from 3pt range last year and hopefully Butler and Oladipo can work on their 3s to be solid on open 3s. You can also sprinkle in 3pt shooters from the bench. All of this and possibly retaining Herro for the bench... that's a great amount of talent for a roster.
How many teams have enough defense to stop every single starter of Lowry, Oladipo, Butler, DeRozan and Bam, most of the time the top 1 or 2 defenders are on them, in this situation 3 of them would have the 3rd, 4th or 5th best defenders on them for a huge mismatch. Just sprinkle some defenders and 3pt shooters with them off the bench and that team is a strong contender.
On retaining Oladipo, you sign him to a 1+1, either party declines next year's option and Miami has his Bird rights and can pay him while going into the tax if you want.
All that and it may be possible to add R.Gay.
Lowry, Oladipo, Butler, DeRozan, Bam, Herro and Gay... and probably Vincent, Strus and KZ.
Go all in!
