K-Mart. Not a center, but can play there. He is tough, defensive, can guarder smaller players if switched (SF), has a mid range shot, and can finish. I'd love him here.

Kenyon Martin would be a perfect fit defensively on this team.

Did you not watch how bad UD was these playoffs?

Did you not see Okafor's **** career?

And did you not see Bosh's injury playing a role on Haslem? Haslem may not have been great but he had some good games in the playoffs.

WITH Wade getting a surgery and Miller is not healthy enough, I thought adding depth at the SG position like RAy allen is a good choice aside that he's a great shooter. Hinrich would be a good choice if Miami failed to convince Allen, who is a very good defender and can play both guard position. Or the least is Mike Redd at the SG position.

At center, maybe Kaman if he agree to sign for less money. Maybe CAmby...

Hinrich and Kaman would be too funny.

We'd then have the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th picks of the '03 draft on the same team.

Like I said a week or two ago, I'm prepping myself for us only getting one FA along with our draft pick. LOL! Yeah...Justin Credible and Ray Allen. Our balling big and another floor spacer. Believe, folks! I ain't even mad. We were good enough to make the Finals with a great chance to win it with a bunch of dead carcasses anchoring the end of the bench and the center rotation. We were already way better last season for our championship. We should only need Ray's range and Pitt's emergence at center to shore us up long-term. Yeah...I'm sipping the Riles Koolaid. :D Let's go Heat! PEACE.

Hopefully if we sign Ray he can have a weekly freethrow clinic.

Rumors going around that we might sign Grant Hill. Not interested in that unless he takes the minimum, we should be getting younger, not older.

this is a critical time for us... I believe we need to do something to get better. If KG signs for a discount and C's can nab Ray for around what we would offer him.... then they still have a lot of cap room to improve. Thunder will be improved, so will the Clippers. New York will be much better this year plus they still have their mini mle. And don't forget Chicago who will always be a good team.

Bottom line... we NEED to get something done. Miller's gonna be out for a while if not most of the season and D Wade will be fresh off a 6-8 week rehabilitation. Give me Jamal Crawford for all i care ( and i'm not really a fan) but we need some new bodies that can help carry the offensive load for this season if we want to keep the upper hand as defending champs.

EDIT** early reports are saying 3 yrs 34 million for KG. That's too much IMO and I feel loosens the grip on them wanting to sign Ray and getting stuck with the same core they just lost with.

also anyone else a little bummed about Turiaf opting out... he never really got in his full basketball shape..He's young big and athletic (plus enthusiastic) I really think he could bring something to the table next season.

I think we have good chance of signing Jamal. He's good friends with Bron, and all the times he killed us, I thought he would be on the heat one day!

Figured Turiaf would opt. A 29 year old mobile big, with shot blocking prowess. Someone is going to pay him more than the minimum. Won't be Miami, though. Adios.

And that Garnett deal is..... interesting.

Garnett gets 3 years 34 million. Interesting, though he earned that with his play in the playoffs.

Does anyone know the breakdown of the Heat's profit this season? What the payroll for the entire organization is, how much money was made, any taxes, etc.? I'd like to know so we would kind of know the direction the team is headed in the coming years in terms of how much money they're willing to spend on players, if the amnesty would be used, if one of the Big 3 would be moved, and if the luxury tax would really be a problem.

Also I wonder if cap and tax are a problem if the Big 3 would restructure their contracts and sign for a little less when they have the chance to opt out in 2014...

http://espn.go.com/nba/truehoop/miamiheat/story/_/id/8115909/sources-miami-heat-top-priority-boston-celtics-guard-ray-allen

Sources: Heat want Ray Allen

The Heat, according to sources, have made Allen their prime offseason target and will pursue him strongly when free agency opens Sunday at 12:01 a.m. ET.

They intend to offer him their $3 million mini-mid-level exception, a chance to win another title and significant playing time as they continue with the plan to play LeBron James as a power forward in the future. Heat players, including James and Dwyane Wade, have been publicly and privately recruiting Allen over the last month.

"We've got five or six guys earmarked (in free agency) so we'll see how it goes," Heat president Pat Riley said. "We want to find as much space as we can on the floor for Dwyane, LeBron and for Chris (Bosh) to be able to operate."

The team would prefer to swoop in and secure his services quickly for several reasons. The Heat cannot win a bidding war for Allen, so they're hoping the chance to play on a contender will make up for the below market value offer. Also they want to grab Allen before other suitors get their free-agent houses in order.

All Miami has to offer is that $3 million exception, a steep pay cut from the $10 million Allen earned last year. The Boston Celtics, who have cap space and Allen's Bird rights, could pay him significantly more. Yahoo! Sports recently reported the Phoenix Suns are expected to chase Allen and they could have more than $20 million in cap space. There will be other contenders as well.

Allen may want to wait and see how things play out. Multiple media outlets reported Saturday that Kevin Garnett is planning to return to the Celtics. However, the Celtics may need to deal with other free agents including Jeff Green before they see what they can offer Allen.

The Suns have to make a decision on what to do with Steve Nash before getting an offer together for Allen. Allen could also wait to see where stars Deron Williams and Dwight Howard end up before making a final decision on where he might want to play. All of which has the Heat interested in moving as quickly as possible.

The Heat did handle some other free agent business over the weekend. Center Ronny Turiaf, who signed with the team in March, elected not to pick up his $1.1 million player option for next season by Saturday's deadline. He will be an unrestricted free agent. He played in 13 regular season games, averaging 3.5 points and 4.5 rebounds, and 12 playoff games, averaging 1.9 points and 2.6 rebounds, for the team. "The option was an insurance policy in case he got hurt," agent Mark Bartelstein said. "He's interested in coming back but not at the minimum salary."

Hope they do all go back. Another year older and even less of a threat to us.

Happy not to get Allen.

Don't want Hill either.

There is veteran and then there is on their last legs.

Interesting?

Ridiculous more like.

If the guy has another year in him that's it. They already have to manage his minutes seriously.

Celtics are finished.

Turiaf opting out. Who cares? Dime a dozen player.
