Then you terribly fail at GM'ing.

Lopez isn't great, but he's solid for the miniMLE. We could do much worse.

Sometimes we act kinda "arrogant' when it comes to role players, like they should be lucky to play for us versus "we want you"....we're tops when it comes to pursuing HARD the top FA's

IMO

We actively pursued the ish out of Allen last summer... all our guys were texting him a bunch too. I think it may seem a little more layed back or "arrogant" as you say because we make it a point to not leak much info, if any. Nobody knew what our moves were going to be 2 summers ago when quietly Battier was the guy we were going after the whole time. And apparently last year we called Camby at 12:01 at the start of free agency... if that's not blatant interest especially for a washed up Heat hater, I don't know what is lol

I know and agree, just was wasting a little time while doing some work....was curious......trust me, I know Pat Riley doesn't like "leaked info" unless he's doing the leaking

Before 2006, I would be more anxious...championships have mellowed me out......I enjoy the games more

Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine 17m
Evolving list for Oden given complexities of his comeback, but one source close to situation contends Spurs and Heat slightly ahead of Cavs

Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine 20m
Hearing strongly that Miami still needs to be in same zip code w/Spurs & Cavs in Greg Oden's free-agent thinking. Heat right there, I'm told

should an Elton Brand, for example, decide that a title shot at the minimum, with no guarantee of playing time, is acceptable (the Rashard Lewis Plan, if you will), then I think the Heat would embrace such overtures.

When a veteran free agent or two recognize their perceived value does not match the market, that's when Pat Riley and his staff might pop into action.

Is Elton Brand still the rebounder he used to be? I know he used to be a great shot blocker, but with his height and his age, not sure if he's still. I know he can hit the midrange shot, but from what I saw last season, was inconsistent.

Why would we want him for? We already have a bunch of undersized big men like, Joel, Haslem, Bosh(when he plays C) and even Birdman. The Heat must go after a legit big man like Oden or Dalembert.
Thanks for all the great memories, LeBron! The show must go on! #Heatnation

Lopez is tall, can defend the paint, grab some rebounds, block shots and is young. All of those are things we need. We saw in the NBA Finals what happens when we ask Bosh to be our 1 low post defender, he gets either in foul trouble or he spends all his energy trying to defend and doesnt have enough for offense. We need someone we can put next to him.

^Just curious, I've never had a real problem with obtaining players...I've always had a problem with actually UTILIZING those players.Taking the scenario you just described, why didn't ERIC just bring in another CENTER, JUST FOR DEFENSE....still can't understand those 2 DNP for anderson.

This is why I no longer get excited about players(that are not starters) we sign, no matter if we get :"any center of choice" my concern is "will they play" or will we continue to force BOSH to play maximum minutes at center?

splitter who is utter crap going to get 5 year deal worth 45 million dollar. it goes to show the market for big men is very costly.
even rubbish big, would cost high..

i think joel anthony is not on a bad contract..altho he is useless.i think we can use him as trade asset

THe more money Splliter gets from the Spurs, the less money left for them to offer Oden.

So go Splliter go!

Plus with Timmy and Splitter they won't have many minutes for Oden. good for us.

WojYahooNBA
There won't be a fifth year on the Splitter deal. The terms will be four years, $36 million-plus, sources tell Y! Sports.

With Splitter re-upping in San Antonio for $9 mil per year, it could seemingly eliminate the Spurs from the Oden derby.

1. U R or may be looking at it from THE MIAMI HEAT LENS, had a bad series
2. Being fair.....Joel was not played enough to possibly help us, which concerns me about ANY new center pickup

Splitter is decent, we just made him look really bad because we went small.

I do wonder if Oden is factoring playing time. The Spurs would use him as a back up, while we would use Birdman (waiting for him to resign...).

Then again he hasn't even played in 3 years so...

They are both starters though, we just took out Splitter because of our small ball and Spo and Pop were playing chess.

Oden would play behind Splitter I believe if he were to sign. Duncan would play PF, though at the end of the game Duncan would play C. Kind of like what Bosh does. We would have Bosh/Haslem then Birdman if he rejoins.

I'd like Lopez. I don't know if he deserves more playing time than Birdman but he's a legit 7 footer

It was both. But he made it known he was going to sit out a few years so he can rehabilitate

   No you wouldn't. Stop it.

Also, with one year left on his contract after next season, Joel could potentially be a trade asset.
