Who was it that told me that we could not sign any more two-ways after January? What does this mean?

They had wrong info. The NBA implemented a waiver on this when teams were getting hit hard by Covid. Martin guaranteed contract opened up the door for another two way signing.

Guy is on a two way though. We would need to clear someone from the 15 man roster for Dragic to become playoff eligible

With the two way signing of Smart I don't see a need to keep Kyle Guy around. We have an influx of guards and need to make better use of the other two way spot. I can see why the Heat would covet Smart over Guy. Smart is more the prototypical big guard the Heat like at 6'4 205. Kyle Guy on the other hand is 6'1 167.

Yup the open spot is Haywood Highsmith when his 10 day expires or when we decide to terminate it. We needed to sign an extra emergency body due to Martin and Herro being out. He's getting another tryout to earn that other two way from Guy.

I think he should. Cut guy, sign Highsmith and bring in Dragic

I agree. Guy was a nice feel good story but with all these guards I think it's time to move on

Huh I thought converting Martin from a two way took KZ’s spot. Either way good to know there’s another open spot on the roster

It does but we’ve had 14 spots filled with 1 open all season so it didn’t really change anything

I’ve seen Covington comparisons tied to Highsmith. I guess time will tell, I think he’s a year or so away from being able to play like a Strus/Gabe/Martin type role but if he’s 3 and D it’s just one more guy that makes Duncan expendable.

That’s great news! Glad we were able to get one of our guys into the locker room on a two-way, just in time for the playoffs, to start to give him experience and reps in a locker room that is gearing up and grinding through the playoffs, even if he does not play in them.

He has a long way to go. But at least he has the corner 3 working. The corner base line is an area that needs players who know how to work that area. So far all we got is Tucker.

I hope that's not the case, not because of Guy but if Miami keeps taking away 2-way contracts from players they could end up having some of the better 2-way players look to go elsewhere vs come to Miami and possibly lose their contract which makes little sense at this time since 2-way players aren't playoff eligible, you just get some contract rights for next year and I would hope they address PF this summer better then just adding a 2-way player to backup a 37 year old player.

Although you can read the story at...

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nba/victor-oladipo-to-work-out-with-heat-g-league-team-a-possible-precursor-to-a-return/ar-AATUDyV

The Heat stressed that Oladipo is not scheduled to participate in G league games, with veterans with his standing allowed veto such playing assignments while under NBA contract. But Sioux Falls does have NBA veterans for Oladipo to scrimmage with, including former Heat championship point guard Mario Chalmers and NBA journeyman Chandler Hutchison.

The Heat are scheduled to resume practice Feb. 24 before leaving later that day for a game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden the following night.
