Duncan by far is the easiest to be traded because of the partial next year or expiring contract. If it’s a dump it will be minimum we have to trade our last two seconds we have with O Rob. Maybe it’s not a dump and just a good honest trade. Trading Herro for someone making less also helps.

I'm probably looking too deep into this. Who knows.

You are looking too deep into this. Just follow the money. Bam, Fox, Mitchell are all part of the same draft class. They all to be eligible for that 10 year vet max. Thats going to be 380+ for 5 years, so figure over 75 million a year. These cats want that money, everything else is secondary. It will be close to impossible to convince anyone to take a year less, which means losing over 75 mil. The game has changed. Its get that money first, everything else is secondary.

Ahhhhh makes perfect sense.

Duncan, ORob, and 2nd rd pick for Schroder might not be such a bad idea. Gets us a scoring backup PG and saves us 8.5 million. Schroder also clean expiring next year.

Also wouldn’t mind a Collins for Herro swap. Collins has a player option next year.

Man the two 2023 NBA finalists taking massive L's in this offseason so far. The Heat managed to downgrade from Highsmith with 2 injury prone players (at least Burks has talent) and signed Dru Smith who has zero upside.

Our current roster :

PG : Rozier

SG : Herro/Duncan/Burks/Rich/Larrson

SF : Jimmy/Jamie

PF : Jovic

C : Bam/Ware/Love/Bryant

================================

Someone is having some cognitive issues.

It's either me or whoever built this roster with 4 Centers, 5(!) SGs and 1 PG and 1 PF.

Isn't the idea that Bam is freed up as a 4? Love is a PF/C too. It looks a lot more reasonable thst way. PG is an issue, but you left off Smith and they see JRich as a combo guard (though I agree he is a SG). PG is a gap.

Yes but not on Day 1 unless Ware shows up in camp which I doubt.

How crazy would it be if Herro goes to San Antonio and ends up winning multiple championships because of Wemby? I think Trae and/or Herro would work well with San Antonio since Wemby will cover up a lot of their issues on defense.

S&T DeRozan for Robinson+2nd round pick
Herro+Jovic+1st round pick for Lauri

Resign Highsmith

Rozier/Rich
Burks/DeRozan/Larsson
Butler/JJJ
Lauri/Love/Highsmith
Bam/Ware/Bryant

DeRozan as a 6th man would be deadly

Do it Riley!

Positionless basketball is the trend right now. The goal is to have a roster that's super flexible and adaptable, with players who can cover multiple positions when needed.

Take Rozier, Herro, and Burks. They're not stuck in one role. Rozier is mainly a PG, but his scoring and ball-handling let him switch to SG easily. Herro's great at scoring and playmaking, so he can play as a PG, SG, or even as SF. Burks is just as versatile, able to handle PG, SG, and SF roles too.

In the frontcourt, you've got even more flexibility with Bam, Jimmy, Jamie, and Jovic. Bam is a perfect example of a positionless player. He can play PF or C, handle the ball, pass, and defend multiple positions. Jimmy, usually an SF, can also play SG or PF, thanks to his defense and scoring from different spots. Jamie can switch between SG and SF, and Jovic can play SF, PF, or even a stretch C.

This whole approach is about making the most of each player's strengths. It means the team can handle different challenges on the court with a flexible and adaptive strategy.

What are the odds that Duncan opts out of that last season. Do we know how much that partial guarantee is? Hopefully it's low enough that a new multi-year deal (elsewhere) looks like the better option for him.

My memory is the guarantee is around $9m.

If that's the case then I would assume he'd opt out unless he get injured.

It's not a player option.
It's a way for us to waive him and spread the $9 over three years. It's good for the team, not the player.
He has no say in the matter. If the contract looks good next year due to rising cap, he will have more value which is ofc a good thing.
