No need to try and gamble on a 20/10 6’10 big with a 7’5 wingspan who can shoot the 3 for some minimal assets guys. We have defensive stalwart 6’8 Kevin Love that Spo continues to run out at Center.

I always like to see how guys play against our biggest rivals/competition. It’s part of why I’m so high on guys like Mitchell Dame Fox etc, they torch the Celtics. The way the Celtics play defense is set up perfectly to for guards like that to go off.
Vuc had 32-11-3 last game against the Celtics a couple weeks ago, they play again tonight.

I am in the trade Rozier or drob for vucevic. Think paired with bam would be upgrade over other options like highsmith Jovic and k love. What if you trade Butler and drob for vucevic and and Zach lavine? Sorry if that was discussed before but lavine guy is healthy and younger than Butler

Bulls fans saying they want Ware but the podcaster smartly shoots that down. Sounds like they are receptive to Rozier and of course Robinson as the contract attachment. Honestly sounds like they would be thrilled to get someone like Jovic for him as the attachment. If they want Ware then we need a 1st rd pick back in return like the podcaster smartly states once again.
Vucevic always seems to be highly functional when he plays Miami.
I am for anything that adds size to Miami, I am sooo over small ball.
Back when small ball put a highly functional but undersized PF on the floor...it at least made some sense, but it has been some time since we have seen some random mid-level SF turn into a really decent PF.
TBF What team doesn't always have a random Tito that plays like Michael when they play us?

Rozier is just not playing good period. Its not about how he is being used. He has regressed since the start of the seasonAirP. wrote:RexBoyWonder wrote:1. No one over 30

If Rozier trade should have taught us anything - it's this.
The Rozier trade tells you not to trade real assets after career low efficiency high volume scorers. Pick your core players and then put the right players around them.
The only way to make Rozier work is to give him all the freedom he wants on offense which means he has to be one of your top options which he won't be in Miami. Even if he were 27 you'd have this issue. The only way I thought he'd work is taking over Herro's scoring role, I never thought Herro and Rozier could work together, they both need shots.
If you go back to last year, you can see that after Rozier's bad start (he wasn'tdoing all that well in Charolotte before being traded), when Rozier was doing well Herro was out... Herro missed from Feb 26 to Mar 4th which is interesting because Rozier went out 2 games after Herro came back.
The previous 4 games before Herro returned last year Rozier had games of...
22 pts, 17 FGA
27 pts, 19 FGA
34 pts, 15 FGA
22 pts, 20 FGA
The 2 games when Herro got back Rozier went back to not getting shots...
Rozier pts, fga / Herro pts, fga
13 pts, 10 FGA / 17 pts, 14 FGA (under 25 minutes played, that's a 20 FGA per36 pace)
4 pts, 7 FGA / 21 pts, 12 FGA
No more games for Rozier for the season.
Rozier's has to have a lot of shots (much like Herro), this year he started out well, 4 games but then Bam wasn't seeing the ball much except game 2 vs the Hornets. Once Miami tried getting Bam going (FGA of... 24, 15, 21, 18) Rozier's shots dropped and he went into a spiral. 9 of Rozier's 22 games this year he's only gotten 2 or fewer assists, he's basically playing Vincent's old role (small SG) but needs to shoot and create more often to get into the flow of the offense.
I think Rozier is salvageable if he's given free reign as the scoring 6th man, but that also messes with Jaquez Jr's role. Spoelstra has to decide who's going to get more free reign in the offense and who has to play more as a role-player which can stunt player's growth like Jovic with the starters and maybe Jaquez Jr as a scorer/playmaker off the bench.
Maybe this small amount of time off Spoelstra can change things up a bit, get some practices in for the team that helps Rozier's ability to get into the flow of the offense better. I think Rozier can be salvaged, but it's going to take Spoelstra giving him room to shoot/create and making some younger guys roles smaller.
When this trade went down, the only logical thing I thought was he was taking over Herro's role, at no time did I think it was smart at all to have bother of those high volume scorers on the roster together at 25+ mil each because one or both would cannibalize the other's shots, not enhance.

If Rozier trade should have taught us anything - it's this.Spoiler:
Usually there's a reason for a player not playing their normal way, be it an injury, a role change or mental issue on or off the court which could be connected to one of the first two issues. For instance, when Rozier went to Charlotte his rate of shots went up and for the most part, his scoring efficiency went up (all but 1 season there) and so did his rate of assists, now that he's back to being utilized like he was in Boston (although he's probably a little better player than he was in Boston), his rate of stats and efficiency seem to have dropped off to how he was before being given a big role in Charolotte so to me that seems to indicates that it's possible there's a bit of correlation there.

No on Lavine Butler swap. He's worse player and even worse injury record. With Lavine you are essentially locked in as a play in team for the next 3 years. Butler leaving for nothing is better than Lavine on the books. At the least you get his money off the books

God I hope the front office isn't as desperate as this.
If 34% 3 point shooter, 35YO no defense, non expiring Center is your answer - you're asking all the wrong questions.
His playing minutes in the playoffs is low as well.
I wonder why...

Apologies if already mentioned, but All Star voting has begun. Let’s get Herro into his first All Star game.

Re: 2024-25 Regular Season Thread Vol. 2
If the main piece we're swapping out in a Vuc trade is Rozier, sign me up. His defense cannot be worse than Love's while shooting a much better percentage from 3, and can rebound, and has size. Much better fit on this team than Terry. Starting lineup becomes a pick your poison type of situation. Are you going to Double Herro and Bam? Triple Butler? You sure you want to leave Vuc open? You sure you want to leave Herro open?
We don't need Vuc running around chasing people on the perimeter. Park those cheeks in the paint while Bam hounds people in the perimeter. We just need Vuc to stand there be a wall and get us the rebound.
He's also 6 mil a year cheaper than Terry

I don't want to give Rozier an excuse. But he did have a bad back injury. It wasn't revealed what it was but it was said to be bad. Iv had back injuries and its very tricky because you can feel ok until he start to do something highly physical and it doesn't have to be painAirP. wrote:twix2500 wrote:Rozier is just not playing good period. It can be just strength and explosiveness. It almost like his mind is moving faster than his body. These miss layups and everything just seems to not be ready to play at a nba level.

Miami is lucky Spoelstra finally got through to him, this sometimes doesn't happen (if it happens at all) until a player is traded where they can be more open to why they were traded and be open to change. As Herro said, he felt he's been successful so why would he change? With that, he didn't change for years, he's in year 6 now, 1/3 to 1/2 of his career is already been played.
The only issue I have now with him is his stubbornness to try to shoot himself out of a slump while dragging his team down with him, we saw that with the Detroit game. I was good with most of those missed 3s, he's a good 3pt shooter, even on the move I just had a problem with being off that particular game and doubling down on 3s he didn't have to take late in the game.

“At first it was a tough conversation for me to take in because I feel like I’ve been successful playing the way I’ve played for pretty much my whole career,” Herro said of his feelings coming out of that conversation. “Scoring wise my numbers were not horribly inefficient. My first five years I still feel like I was above average efficiency when I look across the league at other guys at my position.”
Herro remained receptive, but by the time Miami got to their 2023-24 regular season slate, little changed. He was still a 20-point scorer, his usage raising slightly as his efficiency dropped but all remained well within career norms. His threes attempted per 100 possessions remained flat while his rates for both rim attempts and free throws actually dropped by a few ticks.

If nothing more than the non Bam minutes I feel like Vucevic could be a huge help. Someone to throw it down too for an easy bucket or just good ole fashion pick and roll.

He took one really bad shot in OT, where he faded away and shot an airball, otherwise he had 2 wide open 3p looks and the last shot was just get any clean look in the 6s that were left.
I would put this loss on Spo, he kept Duncan/Terry/Herro all out there, when they had an 8p lead with less than 2 minutes to go.
Why not just put in HH for Terry? Really didn't need all that scoring anymore.
The defensive scheme was also not ideal either, Terry rotated away from his man to double on Cade and left a wide open shooter. Why you doing this with 8p lead and limited time? Cade vs Duncan 1v1 for a 2 would not have hurt as much as a wide open 3 they got instead.
On the last 3 possessions the Pistons scored, Terry failed on defense (be it because of scheme), not contesting or just being too small.
It seemed they stuck to their scheme and did not adjust at all, when it actually required them to just not give up any 3s. Spo should have absolutely noticed this, leaned on defense more and there is no way Pistons overcome the 8p deficit.

Yeah, the lack of playing time for Highsmith was very surprising, as was all the minutes Rozier was getting at the end. Head scratching stuff from Spo
