He would fix our offense for sure and make life so much easier on that end for Bam Herro and Ware. Dudes playmaking is insane. I also think his efficiency would jump here and we’d see the best version of him.

For those who will chime in and say “Trae isn’t winning you a championship blow it all up and rebuild” Trae isn’t the final piece, just like Jimmy wasn’t the final piece, we will still need 1 more. Luckily Traes value won’t be too high and we’ll have assets going forward to actually land that final piece this time around

Considering the noise at the deadline it seems the most realistic. I think we actually spoke to the Hawks about it considering the smoke at the deadline. Ground work i feel like was made to pursue this offseason. We’ve been so horrible offensively and Trae solves a lot of those problems with his playmaking alone. He’s a dynamic PG no bones about it. Just have to be willing to trade some defense for offense but the offense and playmaking upgrade is immense. Mitchell would be the ideal backup to him.

Wait I missed this. We tried to trade for Trae at the deadline or you're assuming we did?

Interesting tid bit. In an interview yesterday Giannis literally said he wouldn't request a trade from the Bucks they'd have to kick him out. Now Shams is reporting this today? Which is it.

If there’s one thing weve learned we can’t listen to what these players say in their interviews trying to be professional, trust Shams. Heat fans such as our resident Mod MWP acted like he was making the Jimmy stuff up as a coping mechanism to help through hard times, now here we are. Stay tuned.

With salary cap and structure you also need guys who can play that are on their rookie deals. There's added value with a guy on his rookie deal who is a legit starter. It is way easier to build a team if you have a couple of them.

Path to 4 picks

2025- GSW
2025- Lottery protected OKC

If OKC is paid out then we have 2026. If not paid out only one pick can be traded but pick can be made for another team and traded after draft.

2026- Could potentially be OKC unprotected or we keep but Stepien rules in place for 2027 Hornets.

2027- Picked owed to Hornets lottery protected but forward to 2028 if OKC not conveyed in 2025.

2028- Becomes Hornets pick unprotected ours if OKC conveyed in 2025

2029- Could be blocked by Stepien if pick goes to Hornets. Could be trade eligible if not

2030- Own

2031- Own

2032- Own and eligible to be traded next year

If we pay out OKC we can trade 2025,2029,2031

If we don’t pay out OKC- Two 2025 picks, 2030, and 2032

Technically it’s a slippery slope pathway to trading 4 1st rd picks. Don’t let some randos fool you that this is a guaranteed scenario.

Reposting this I wrote in the General Board:

I don't think he would do it, but Miami Heat are in dire need of a playmaking PG. We have everything else in place for a player like him to join and turn our fortunes around. It is a team of complementary players with noone to set the table and organise them. Bam and Ware are constant lob and post threats with noone who knows how to set them up. Herro and Wiggins are both 3 point threats with other skills. Then on the other end, that is a defensive front court in Bam-Ware-Wiggins, with only Herro as substandard.

If Chris Paul wanted to take that chance on adding to his legacy this late as a leader rather than a coattails hanger-on-er-er, this would be a good place.

They probably don't give him the highest odds of winning a championship, as they are likely out of that tier, but they give him a very good chance of being considered more highly if they broke through.

For example, Miami has lost these 10 games:
13 point lead choked to Bulls
13 point lead choked to Clippers
13 point lead choked to Knicks
14 point lead choked to Lakers
15 point lead choked to Suns
17 point lead choked to Kings
22 point lead choked to Magic

All due to lack of discipline, panic and scoring droughts without a playmaker. We win those games with Paul. If Miami is 35-18, they are a half game out of 4th in the NBA from Memphis and Knicks.

We were never close. We had a chance at Dejounte Murray whom I preferred over Terry Rozier. But Terry was cheaper.
