Also I would love the saltiness of both Rudy Gobert and Celtics fans if Hayward joined our squad.

Especially the Celtics. Sadly, they probably have the inside track - if he doesn't just choose to stay in Utah, with a quality Utah team.

I understand some of the concerns about roster resetting etc - however, I think players know that situations can change quickly. Dragic and Whiteside have been cornerstones, UD (while basically just a coach these days) is there to instill the mantra and coach the locker room, while we have one of the most stable FO's in the league. It's a good situation, let alone no state income tax, warm weather etc.

Now, when it comes to basketball, the coaching staff has proven they can get the most out of players. I don't think that will change. While I love that Dion and JJ have resurrected their careers here and show a lot of pride for the team, at the end of the day it's about winning. Whatever gets us closer to competing is what we need to do.

We'll see what happens - going to find out a fair bit over the next 2 weeks. Exciting but nervous times.

What? And then we win the title?

non-playoff team adds Bam Bam and wins the title.

How many teams wins a championship every year? This self entitlement of thinking you can win every year is something you are going to have to come to terms with. Only 1 team wins each year & it looks like that team will be the Warriors for the next few. Enjoy the sport like the reast of us, & please dont piss on our enjoyment of a very entertaning, & competitive team.

But if you insist yes please jump off that lendge. & while you are at it, please take a few of those angry depressed wannabe fans who only want to bitch & complain about the team with you.

As opposed to a fan like you, who wants to miss out on the playoffs every year.

If Dragic is being traded we are tanking. That would be what the third year in a row we are a lottery team? Pat was thinking about being a GM from his Cali home... People would get fired...

With Goran on the team we've been nearly tanking.

He's already using Utah in the past tense....

Or maybe he's using the past tense to talk about Last year. :noway:

Vet min and let Dion walk for the big pay day.

Dragic / Richardson
Wade / T.Johnson / Ellington
Hayward / McGruder
JJ / Winslow / Babbit / White
Whiteside / Adebayo / Haslem

That's pretty sweet. Plus we'd get the DWade feel good story.

Some may disagree with that being success, but I think it all depends on what the definition of success is for this team.

If anything but winning a championship is considered a failure, then yes the Heat will most likely fail next season (barring some unprecedented moves). However, if success is viewed with a bigger picture in mind, then the outlook of success may be viewed differently.

Riley always has a plan, he's not always successful, but he always has a plan.

This plan of keeping the same team sucks. Contenders keep the same team. Teams trying to be contenders don't keep the same team. They make improvements.

You can't keep reseting every off-season and expect to attract big time players. Need to have pieces to attract people, and those pieces are hopefully JJ and Dion.

Improving isn't the same as re-setting. Getting Hayward would be improving but not re-setting. Re-setting would be getting rid of everyone though we actually signed Waiters and JJ to 1 year contracts so that we could clear them out if we wanted. It's a double edged sword.

The way I see it, we're completely placing our bets on finding diamonds in the rough, trusting our player development and getting players to overachieve.

Very difficult strategy to pull off, but if there's any team that CAN pull it off, it's us. The track record is immense. I mean, we found our franchise centerpiece in the D-League. There are plenty of players that reached superstardom/stardom by overachieving, like Kawhi Leonard and Jimmy Butler, and to a lesser extent Draymond Green.

By the way

I think the odds of us getting Blake Griffin is higher than the odds of us getting Gordon Hayward. Both odds are pretty bad, though.

I actually believe we have a GREAT chance to get Blake, IF we really went after him hard.

I'm Justnot sure he's the piece we really need, despite being very good.

An off the ball shooter\defender type PF seems like a much better fit.

When we had the big 3 he'd have been ideal.

Well me to but TJ contract is a big no no in the future. Its just ugly paying so much for a bench guy. Dont get me wrong i love TJ its just this contract numbers are just insane. A 30+ mil. players are already in one team except Lebron in my opinion. Everybody else is no way near. PG13 for example or GH. No way untill those Golden State girly team exists i would be willing to spend that much money for 1 or 2 let alone 3 near max guys knowing they would just lose in the finals. If lebron couldnt do it i just dont know who will. And he was no way near of doing it.

I've read this so many times this year. We have that contract, accept it. If you want rid of TJ it'll cost you plus whoever you bring in to replace him.

Blake would clearly become the best player on the team, you make it work.

Not sure why an on-ball player wouldn't be a fit, it's not like we have an abundance of shot creators. Blake can shoot the long two and started shooting threes the past season, it would work.
