Re: Official "Damn Bam" Adebayo thread
I'm going to trust Pat and trust that we didn't get Darko'd based on the fact that there's adult's in the Heat FO.
Just seems like there should be a clear and easy justification for reaching so far to use a lottery pick on Bam. It can't be some 3pt-shooting during a work-out, the kid can't dribble. He doesn't have much offensive upside outside of the paint and I doubt he plays PF in the league. I just see Tristan Thompson, that's the upside we have to be gambling on, there's nothing else there. His ORB% compared to TT is comparable to difference between Leaf's ORB% and his own, grasping at straws too but offensive rebounding has to be the upside we're here gambling on. He's a C, so maybe he's got potential as Whiteside's replacement someday
TTP'ing and hoping I'm wrong about him like I was about Waiters (Hope I was wrong) and they both become Heat Goats.

We drafted a fullback when a top tier tight end was available one pick ahead. We couldn't have offered to buy a 2nd round pick and swap with Denver? bull.

Good video I was looking to see if their was any videos of his workouts shooting. I cant lie he looks comfortably good shooting deep in that video. That makes me very optimistic.
Calipari talking about Bam:“Right now everybody is stunned at how Bam shoots the ball,” he said. “I must have had 10 calls. Like, ‘I didn’t realize he shot the ball this way.’ But they also didn’t realize Karl shot the ball that way and you also didn’t realize that Anthony shot the ball the way he does. And so you would think following this thing how we do it, they all have to share, they all have to give up something to each other to be able to do what they’re doing here.”
For the record, Karl Anthony-Towns took all of 3 three pointers in college. I think it's worth reserving judgement on how Bam will fit given that we don't have an idea yet on the full scope of his game. High energy guys thrive in Spo's system.
Im starting to flip flop.
Was very worried he's strictly a 5, but his shooting motion gives me hope he can grow into a stretch 4 that defend multipule positions while hitting open shots and help on the boards.
To me it's al about his outside shot. If it's real - we might have something awesome. He should be shooting 3's all summer, because if he can't hit them he'll never see the court next to Hassan

That shot looks goodttttt.
A couple summers working with Rob Fodor, and we'll see what's up down the road.
Reminder: He still hasn't turned 20 yet.

No way do i think we got Darko'd. We drafted a 5 star recruit from Kentucky who was the starting big for one of the top teams in the nation. I think I can trust Calipari at this point that he only has the finest in his starting rotation. Kid is 19 with loads of potential. I think most of us got caught sleeping at the wheel when it came to Adebayo. We needed a big man to play the 4/5 and that's exactly what we got.

Re: Official "Damn Bam" Adebayo thread
Saw him hitting 7 3's in a row in workout. On good form.
Sure, workout ≠ real games, but it does give him some hope.
It's not like trying to fix a complete non-shooter with a broken shot. The kid can hit shots, he just needs more polish and confidence and we need a **** lucky break for once.

Re: Official "Damn Bam" Adebayo thread
People in this thread need to stop acting like we had a top 5 pick or something. After the top 10 or picks in this draft, the consensus next tier of prospects was like a group of 15 that are very much interchangeable based on preference and projection. There was no consensus re this next group at all.
We're talking about the #14 pick here. We're lucky if we end up with someone starting caliber.
Bam is an athletic energy big right now. But, with his athletic profile, he has as much upside as anyone.

Almost everything in your post is wrong. Adebayo has flashed potential as a big who can hit from beyond the arc. How does he not have much offensive upside when he's only 19 and showed that he has much more range in pre-draft workouts than he showed in games? He's quick enough to guard 1-5 so he's not a defensive liability at the 4 and if he can consistently make his jumpers he'll be a + at that position. Also, nice job comparing Adebayo's rebounding to Tristan Thompson's. Thompson is the better offensive rebounder but Adebayo's the better rebounder overall. Why do you think we're gambling on Adebayo being a great offensive rebounder? Do you really think that'll be his best skill?
You're entire post is basically, "Adebayo can't shoot and has no potential to become a shooter" which is 100% false.
