For real though, that DJJ injury looked pretty soft. I get if it’s neck related they’re gonna take precautions...but cmon, was the gurney and chit necessary?

I wouldn’t be investing in DJJ long term unless the price was absolutely right. Not when we have KZ in the wings and could potentially draft another SF/PF. If it’s above the mid level, I’m out.

Hope we can come out and stamp authority in this series early. I already know I’m gonna want to punch TJ McConnell. Got JJ Barea type peskiness about him.

Looks like Iggie is well refreshed after he was exiled to the woods for being a bad OP.

NGL I LOLed when I first heard about it because it was the previous OP but then I heard that he was taken out in the stretcher then I was like  I hope he's okay.

I've always thought DJJ's ceiling is a rotation player so let other teams overpay him if that's the case. But I doubt it and hopefully he likes this team enough to stick around for cheap. It can never hurt to have a lot of wing defenders these days.

I'm not sure about KZ, do we really need a shooter who can't shoot (seems to have been the common grumbling about his plays in the bubble)? Or is it too soon to cal him that?

Let’s be honest, when is DJJ not injured?

That's not the point and you know it, previous op. :x

I think it is the point though. Contract year for DJJ and he is going to be looking for a long term deal. Is it worth it to re-sign him?

Yes I think so, Derrick is only 23yo and is still an asset, His cap hold doesn't effect anything we would do from a free agent perspective this offseason, so I say you pay him as long as its no more than $10mil. Even if we are to get a star to commit to our team and we don't have enough cap room because of the signing the team losing the star would prefer to get something in return than lose him for nothing so we would likely facilitate a sign and trade. Even if for some reason they don't want DJJr in return it should be easy enough to move him for some draft assets and cap space.

Also his injury is just a neck strain and he remains hopeful to return in the Pacers series.

I get that it’s just a neck strain, but the guy has a style of play that has lead to a good bit of injuries. He was out hurt almost all of Nov/Dec for example. Those type of injuries heal fast at his age, but his aggressive play style reminds me a lot of Tyler Johnson. TJ gave his all on each play and it gave him a nice contract, but on the flip side of things that style of play was not sustainable and he soon slowed down a good bit.

I don't think Spo would have wanted this to leak the day before the game, but it was pretty obvious this would be the case once he moved Dragic to the starting lineup.

Tbh I could see Kendrick Nunn being that classic Spo case of starter to very limited minutes come time for big series. I didn't think he would do it based on my page 1 post but if he actually is making the switch it may be drastic for Nunn

Dragic and even Herro I think deserve those minutes at the moment.
