If we compare it to how this board rates our young core I'd say he's underrated.

You are kidding me right? CP3 is old and is injured every year. Beal is what 26? His averages are pretty solid. And he fits well with Butler. Not to mention sure we have an AWFUL contract with Wall BUT we also, have WALL. What happens if Wall comes back to full strength? Or even 75 percent of Wall. A lot of people are just acting like there is no chance of that happening. Yes, it's a horrible injury but it's the same as KD, would you take him? That is one Hell of a lineup. Last, everyone is saying to make the money work they can't send Bam most likely. Just because we'd be sending back a ton of heavy contracts and Bam's isn't.

So in 2 years time a starting lineup of

Bam
Wall
Butler
Beal
Herro

All I'm gonna say is GIANNIS 2021. You guys are all gonna have a nervous breakdown if this man leaves Milwaukee to test free agency and the Heat have no cap space available.

It's unlikely that he'll leave that much money on the table in Milwaukee, and unlike Kawhi, Giannis has shown signs of loyalty to the organization. Barring a meltdown of the Bucks front office, he's staying. But if he does leave, I think the team with a foot in the door is Toronto because of Masai. We have no ties at all to Giannis.

We’re staying put me thinks, all this speculation is just that. No use following any twitter reports if something happens it happens but I doubt it .

We’d be looking at: Dragic/JJ/Dion/KO/Winslow out to get over the $65.3m coming back in a deal for Beal/Wall, but this adds up to $72.3m (Washington can take this amount back, but they would be wanting to clear cap not take on that much more). Leaving us with:
Wall/Nunn
Beal/Herro
Butler/DJJ/KZ
Bam/Robinson/Maten
Leonard

In September Bertrand can be added to make it salary neutral for both teams, but he just adds a PF and does nothing about our depth issue.

Idk if Beal is worth gutting our team and trading all those players away. I say roll w what we have for now and see what happens when Beal demands a trade to Miami (got a hunch that might just happen)

Well to be fair Winslow the only one in our long term plans anyway.

Time for main stream media to start respecting us and not assuming we gonna take old ex all stars on big contracts for anything more than empty salary. Gross disrespect. The team has made its errors but deserves better than this crap.

Now we’ve got a star and stuff to put around him, but 3/4s of a season ago we had “one of the bleakest futures in the league”

Beal is very similar to herro although he is way more athletic when beal came outta high school and was entering college he was supposed to be that next level shooter and can't this however his year at Florida his shot was not falling then when he got into the NBA he dialed in that elite shooting that he has now that's all that we can hope for from herro is that NBA training could get him the elite shot his projected to have back
1. Herro 2. Bol Bol 3. Seko 4. Bruno
unless we trade up for Barrett or trade down for PJ Washington

Really can’t blame the media for thinking this. Miami has always brought in old vets. Recently it’s been Joe Johnson, Amare, Granger, Hardaway, J Will, Payton etc etc

Tbh I would have settled for just getting 1 pick back and tossing them a few unwanted contracts. I think that's fair enough.

For CP3? It’s not. Our bad contracts are better and more movable than CP3’s. Or even already expiring.

CP3 doesn’t make us much better and only makes it harder for us to make other moves. We can’t throw that out to build around someone that is already 34.

I think Chris Paul's game will age well and his 3rd year is a player's option, that does give Miami options.
1. Trade CP3 as a huge expiring contract, probably for a younger aging good player.
2. Ask for him to opt-out his 3rd year and sign a 2-year extension for 60 to make the cap hit only 30 million.
3. Waive and stretch CP3s 47 million over 3 years.

Getting a Miami 1st back and CP3 for Dragic, JJ and Waiters is probably fair, also take in consideration it drops Miami nearly 8 million below the hard cap gaining the ability to make trades or add free agents you couldn't have so close to the hard cap.

I personally think CP3, Butler, Winslow, Olynyk, and Bam would be a great starting 5, for 2 maybe even 3 years.
Use the space available (and 2 new open spots) for low-cost players for depth.

I think most of these players are still free agents.

The more I think about trading for Beal and having to take back Wall the less I want it to come to fruition, apart from that we would be left with a depleted team. I don't think Beal is great enough to swallow that pill. Maybe if we let Dragic play good minutes this year he can build trade value at the deadline and maybe get a pick from a team looking to make a strong push into the playoffs. Same goes for Dion or Kelly maybe if we are patient we can get assets. Then all we have to do is wait for a star to demand a trade, trade those picks plus expirings for out next star this upcoming season. A depleted team with Beal and Jimmy is not going to make much noise, but put quality players around them (who ever is left of winslow, Herro, Bam, Johnson, Kelly, Dion, Leonard etc and we might be able to.

Regardless of the perspective of OKC, only way taking CP3 made sense for us was by getting both our picks back, thus opening up the possibilities of including any of our picks in future trades.

You would sacrifice cap flexibility by taking CP3, so we needed to gain asset flexibility. One pick did not give us that flexibility nor depth of assets, so taking CP3 with a single pick was a treadmill/middling type move. Sitting pat, or trading for CP3 with 2 picks gives us fire power either by financial flexibility in 2021, or asset flexibility now.
