When’s the draft?
Don’t let us get one. — Nikola Jovic

Dru Smith very lucky he got that 500k this year. He should invest and manage a subway after all this-MettaWorldPanda

According to a source, the Heat requested a Zoom session with Maryland 6-10 forward Jalen Smith, a versatile big who can block shots and hit threes.

Smith — projected to go to in the mid-teens in some mock drafts — averaged 15.5 points and 10.5 rebounds and 2.4 blocks in his second season at Maryland, while shooting 53.8 percent from the field and 36.8 percent on threes (32 of 87). Source Barry Jackson

Heat said to have interest per 5 reasons leif

Read on Twitter

Has nice handles and vision at PG. A little on the smallish side but looks very creative. Hope it’s not another Shabazz pick. Still prefer Quickley and his 6’10 wingspan if we go guard. I also like Jalen Smith for big if he slips.

Heat have been doing a great job at smoke screening the last few drafts so any name you hear right now look at the least hyped by our media.

On paper, Smith provides a lot of what we need...but for some reason I'm a little unconvinced. Can't put my finger on why, in theory a player with his skillset shouldn't be available anywhere near our pick, perhaps that's why.

One player who seems to be being mocked around our pick is Cole Anthony. I know he had a somewhat indifferent year, but this dude was a consensus Top 5 player to begin the season. If he's available, he should be on our radar.

The biggest flaw with Smith is probably that he can't effectively guard 4s or 5s.

Wasn’t very impressed with Smith when i did get to watch him play and I really wanted to like him a lot. Thought Bruno Fernando was better. Shot is slow and don’t think it can be relied upon at next level. Maybe we can develop him a bit better in our system and he does have the raw tools we could use. Still think he goes before 20 just on the raw skill set and height alone. The PG talent available at 20 will be rich that i hope we don’t force a big pick. Anthony, Quickley, and Lewis could all be there. Allows us to package Nunn for a big. Nunn is not a true PG. We beed a creator at PG to make the game easier on some of our other guys.

Had a feeling they'll look into him.

I wonder if we can move up a few spots, I doubt he'll fall all the way to #20

If we're looking at a PG, all I want is for him to be :

1) A good athlete.
2) A good shooter.

If he's not, do not want.

We can improve everything else, and this team doesn't really need an elite passer or creator at PG.

We need a defensive stud that will hit his 3's. We might be able to find That in #20 this year.

This is why i’m high on Quickley. He’s met with us already but his name has not been pumped out by our media which is a good thing. Keep going to the Kentucky well. He’s got the Calipari stamp of approval and has a relationship with Herro already.

He can shoot, but is he really an above average athlete?

If you hear alot of noise coming about a certain player, mark it down, its not them. Bam, Herro, Justise....We keep things close and everyone in the league would love to know what our value board looks like.

If I'm betting, we move the pick but if we keep, a PF/C that can help Bam.

if Cole Anthony is within reach the Heat need to go for it.

All the things we know about Anthony one stat that glare out to me that is a sign he will be a big time player. 5.8 free throw attempts a game.

Looking at the footage of Quickley, this was my question mark on him too. He didn't strike me as a plus athlete, just average in that sense. I also didn't see a lot of wiggle off the bounce, more straight line drives and off balance floaters.

Given majority of the offense I saw was catch and shoot, it's hard to know what kind of dribble attack game he really has. Mind you, that can often be part of the Kentucky mystique - there's more than meets the initial eye test (see; Herro, Tyler).

He reminds me of a Landry Shamet type, albeit he is smaller but longer than Shamet. Which is no knock, I actually think Shamet is the kind of player you need on contending teams when you have ball dominant players. If Quickley's stroke is legit, he'd work fine as a catch and shoot and spot up player. I just don't know about the offensive creativity.

That's probably why I'd lean towards Cole Anthony if he were available at #20. He has off the bounce game, can run the PnR, and is essentially a 3 level scorer that could use some refinement in shot selection. The one thing I'm not enamored with in Anthony is his shortish wingspan, which may limit his defensive upside - which would be a problem alongside Herro in the backcourt given his deficiencies there too.

I'm not much of a draftnik, but Tyrell Terry stands out to me.

Have a feeling that he won't make it to 20.

Listen I tried to give Jalen Smith another shot and watched a lot more video on him. I really wanted to like him. His highlight videos make him look like a stud doing all the right things. Its all the other video on him that give me serious pause. Outside from his outside shot and weakside help defense he is going to get abused all over the court. He has no post game, cant box out and will be a turnover machine at the next level. If Okoro has tree trunk legs then Smith has the twigs that fell from the same tree.
1. Herro 2. Bol Bol 3. Seko 4. Bruno
unless we trade up for Barrett or trade down for PJ Washington
