Not really. He can function as a 1. I still don’t see it happening, though. I doubt they even have any interest.

I think what he means is that you can't have two defenders that bad together in the backcourt.

Harden/Maxey's backcourt did okay and Maxey is also a bad defender but again I much rather have Jrich as Herro's backcourt partner.

Surprised they have the Bucks that low. Probably because they're a small market team lol.

Really hope Josh Richardson is our starting PG. If we're going to continue playing our switch everything defensive scheme then we need to ensure that our guards have good length and height to them.

Herro and Josh are both 6'5"+. That's a very solid backcourt height wise.

https://heatnation.com/team-news/erik-spoelstra-discusses-3-options-for-miami-heats-starting-point-guard-spot/

“Kyle obviously is our decorated champion,” Spoelstra said. “So playing on those words, he’s one of the great quarterbacks and quarterback minds in this league, and he’s critical for what we do.”

“J-Rich has been playing some there, just kind of getting reacclimated to a little more of the role he played with us previously,” Spoelstra said. “And Dru Smith has quietly, or not so quietly, had a very good camp. He’s improved considerably.”

I could see the Heat working Hampton on the Josh Richardson development track

Reclamation projects and long shot’s development is a marvel to watch in the best developmental system in the league. Can’t wait to see some of these newcomers and oldcomers (Jrich) in action

From everything said 3 guys were impressive. RJ Hampton, Dru Smith, Cole Swider......tells me Cain is the odd man out here, zero buzz from camp.

At this point don’t even care if we have a bad year. At least some of the chit posters on here will be gone and the rest will be here to enjoy Heat basketball in its purest form. At some point there will need to be a transition from the Jimmy era anyhow

Curious to where they envision Hampton playing? He wasn’t named as the three players in the mix for PG (Lowry, JRich, Dru).

He projects to be a combo Guard, ball distribution is not his forte, more like point of attack defense, three point shooting, and his more of a slasher naturally.

https://www.nba.com/heat/news/coup-notebook-53-nikola-jovic-duncan-robinson-cold-swider

Among those young players, however, one who seems to have popped a bit is Cole Swider, the 6-foot-9 shooter out of Villanova and Syracuse who spent last with the Los Angeles Lakers and their G-League affiliate – where he shot 43.6 percent from three in 27 games. He’s been shooting the ball well enough at least, to garner a “flashback” comparison to Robinson from Adebayo, which Josh Richardson – also present for Robinson’s first training camp – echoed a day later.

“He can shoot the crap out of the ball,” Richardson said, “He can play off of floppy, catch and shoot, pin downs, he’s got a quick release. He kind of knows how to put it down a little bit. I’ve never seen him play before I got here so I was surprised. He’s definitely kind of like a young Duncan and he’s definitely hard on himself like Duncan is.”

Part of the reason teammates have invoked the Robinson comparison is that during Thursday’s practice, Spoelstra labeled Swider the designated shooter during a transition defense drill. Every time down the floor, Swider was told to launch a three wherever possible. It was the defense’s job to find him.

This is good for Miami, you have Duncans replacement if traded and in the case you play them both together in a game for a play call out of a time out you have two action shooters on the move you can make some really creative plays that will really make you extremely dificult to guard.

I can envision like both Bam and Jimmy setting double screens with a cross action were Duncan and Swider and running atound the perimeter and Kevin Love/Jovic is your inbounder off a timeout.
