Re: 2025 Offseason Season Thread Vol. 1
Taking a peek at Spurs message boards and twitter and some seem very resistant to the idea of Durant and giving up anything worth while for him unless it’s a fleece. Many mention his contract and window with the team. Almost exactly to what I was saying earlier in the thread. Doesn’t make much sense for them as some think. Cameron Johnson might be the better low cost move for them if Giannis is not the prize coming back.

1. Sure I defend the best player on my favorite team when idiots say Nic Claxton is better.
2. Don’t really care about this one, it’s never been a debate to those with a brain who is better. I criticize Herro because he hasn’t done anything worth mentioning in a Heat jersey and yet you all pretend he’s god. I called others stans because they do the same **** I do with Bam. If someone mentions Herro in a negative light you better believe hallstar and many others I won’t name due to their sensitivity are popping up.
3. Riley is washed, he’s not good anymore. It’s ok to admit that. I’m the biggest “Wade stan” there is but if he were still playing he’d be garbage. Father Time is undefeated in many fields.
Praying you get through these tough times

Those fans are something. KD played in 81 playoff games by age 27. He had def done some things, lol.

Re: 2025 Offseason Season Thread Vol. 1
Imagine if we could have traded Butler for a package of Vassell, Keldon Johnson, and pick. I would have taken that all day. Two young mid 20’s players and a pick would have felt like hitting the lotto. We ended up with Wiggins, KA, and 20th pick. This is why I think the Spurs balk at that package for Durant. The much more cost effective option for them is Cam Johnson.

Bro the board was quiet, you caught feelings because someone mentioned Shaq and you got in your feelings. If someone said Wade would destroy Herro, I don't have to bring up Bam to deflect.

Spurs have a combination of movable vet deals, young players, and draft picks that they can put together a competitive package for KD that doesn't completely clean them out and they would still have two relatively young guys to build around after KD is gone (Wemby + Fox or Castle..I don't see those two working long term). They have to be real about who they are, they were a sub. 500 team before Wemby went out, Fox was a win now move..they aren't getting a player at 2 or 14 that can do more for them than KD.

If the Suns can get Vassell, KJ, or Barnes and the 14th pick i say that’s a great get for them. Without a doubt the Spurs can get Durant with little resistance I just question is if this is truly the direction they really want to go in or do they go for more younger options. The noise of Cam Johnson is just as loud.
I don’t think there’s any chance they get the 2nd pick but the 14th pick seems reasonable.

Last I’ll say on it out of respect to my goat MWP. The ONLY reason I brought up Herro is because it was a bunch of Herro guys **** on Bam. I said something along the lines of “why do Herro Stan’s feel the need to constantly **** on Bam when Bam has done so much in terms of winning for the organization and Herro has done nothing” and now everyone is losing their mind. It was a genuine question lol. Herro has done nothing in a Heat jersey to warrant the clout he gets.
If it were me who mentioned Wade would dominate Herro you better believe you and others would find a way to rope Bam in lol. Don’t play dumb.

I'm just floored they think they're a Cam Johnson away from contention. He's certainly cheaper than KD, quality shooter, but sometimes you just have to get the real thing.

I think the Spurs are better off going after Giannis, waiting for a younger star who fits their timeline, or just any other superstar like Giannis who will inevitably ask out. No need to hamper the assets for KD and hurt their chances in a future bidding war. If they didn’t have a plethora of assets, like us (who actually have a decent asset pool finally) then sure I’d say go out there and try to snag KD.

I just don’t think that young team is ready for contention just yet to give up assets for Durant. Maybe they just roll with the OKC model. OKC made subtle moves while allowing there young core to develop. Cam Johnson might fit the role better with the Spurs without taking shots away from the core. OKC added Caruso and Hartenstein last year.

Im not even sure if I’d waste the assets on Cam Johnson unless that’s a follow up move to a Giannis trade or I guess even KD at that point. No idea if getting cam in addition to those guys is doable though I haven’t looked at the money

Cam Johnson for them is about as simple as a move gets of swapping out the expiring Barnes with a pick.

With the Spurs seemingly getting cold feet with Giannis this opens the door wide for the Rockets. They have plenty to offer the Bucks. Houston is also another team that seems very resistant to the idea of adding the aging Durant to their core.

Where did we see the Spurs were backing out on Giannis? I must’ve missed that

They seem hell bent on taking Harper with the 2nd pick. Maybe it’s just immense smoke. Many respected insiders are saying they are not trading the pick

We need a Nesmith on the perimeter, it was supposed to be Wiggins. Need a high level playmaking PG. Need a true 1st option. We’ll see what Pat is cooking up

I know a lot of their fans prefer that route and don’t want the pressure of winning it all on them yet. I disagree and think it’ll only make them better now and in the long term but I see their side too. Must be nice to have the option of developing elite youth without the pressure of winning a championship or with the pressure of winning a championship lol

Pacers grasp the concept of good quality roster construction. Last time we gave roster construction a consideration we traded for Lowry to be our QB and signed two PF’s in Tucker and Markieff Morris. Ended up 1st in the East and in Finals.
