I would like Jackson to have free reign one game just so we could be entertained.

Self should be banned from getting future lottery pick wings. He might get the next incarnation of Kobe and insist the kid be a role player. :nonono:

I forgot all about Svi, he was hyped out of Ukraine and he started playing at Kansas when he was 17.

One thing I'm starting to notice about Ball is that he gets a lot of extra pass assists. It's fundamental basketball to give up a contested look for an open look, but it seems to happen at least 2 or 3 times in every film of him I've watched. Add in the couple of simple passes to a cutting wing & he gets 4-5 extra assists for being the right link in the chain - not sure if that is a sign of him reading the play or of the system he's playing in.

Gotta say Fox looked better to me in this clip - his D seems more consistent and less opportunistic, and his attacking of the dribble is more consistently towards the rim or a scoring location. Ball put the ball on the floor a couple times, but mostly it was to shift the D - scouts will want to see him using the PnR more IMO (Fox uses this well already).

The hockey assists is probably a bit of both.

Lot of good plays by both guards in this game. It looked like they were giving each other a bit of space so they wouldn't get burned on D. Both are so quick off the dribble and can make you pay if you get too tight on them. Fox had a nice change of direction play early on that had Ball out of sorts. Fox will get better at picking his spots, and hopefully find a more consistent jumper. With his speed and length he'll be able to get quality shots pretty routinely.

Looking at the way the top-15 is starting to take shape, there's only really 2 players that won't be quality pick-ups (assuming Dragic is on the move) for us: Tatum & Bolden. Some could argue that Monk could fit on that list, but adding him to JR & TJ gives us a platoon of young combos to play the majority of the backcourt minutes.

If we have a chance at drafting either Fox or Rabb I'd rather have Rabb. Last 2 games he's been really impressive and we need another PF, not our 5th/6th guard. I also have concerns about Fox's 3-point shooting.

He was hard to watch the first 8 minutes or so to be honest. You could tell his mind was going 100 mph. Really rusty and just making mistakes and bad plays left and right on and off the ball. I will say he did settle down and started to look like himself, beautiful spin move to get a wide open layup and has cleaned up his jumper form. On his 3 that he made, he went straight up which has become a problem for him, I think he has gotten so used to his turn around fade away jumpers his normal jumper kinda had a fade to it. His 3 point shot was straight up and down and the result was a swish.

He also looked very good defensively but it was Maine so take that one with a grain of salt. Give him another week or so to knock off the rust, I expect to see him and Bolden caught up with everyone come conference play. K said both he and Bolden have done basically nothing for the past 5 weeks.

Any update on Giles returning?

I have not seen him play yet. Do you see him fitting well with Whiteside?

Sounds like he is really close. He finally started practicing full contact for the first time at Duke. So now its all about him getting caught up. K said maybe just 2 more weeks, I expect him back probably 1 game before ACC play starts up. Just to get him kinda going a little. Kinda like what Maine was for Tatum and Bolden this weekend.

I will say one positive, right before his latest knee injury, I have a guy that sees the practices and he was telling me Giles had 0 lift and everyone knew something was wrong. Same guy has told me Giles now looks as explosive as he did in high school. Says its still obvious he is kinda timid to make sharp cuts (which he was great at) but thats understandable at the moment.

I dont at all. I honestly dont think Rabb is that great of a fit for you guys. I think with Whiteside you want a 4 that can kinda stretch out the defense, Rabb doesnt do that.

If you guys are looking for a stretch 4 that fits with Whiteside give Lauri Markkanen a watch. Now that is a perfect fit to go along Whiteside.

Yeah I don't expect him to be a great fit next to Whiteside early on, but like so many other big men in the league today I expect him to expand his range out to the 3-point line as early as his 2nd year in the nba. If he's LA or Bosh I wouldn't want to pass on that because of spacing concerns. I'd most likely pick Markkanen over Rabb but not sure if we'll get a top 8 pick. Right now, I got us picking 10th.
