I don't get the pressure angle at all. He would have zero pressure on him in Miami. He probably would not even play most of the year, because the staff has shown a history of prioritizing a player's health.

Ask Eddy Curry, ask Rashard Lewis. Both of those guys people thought were done, but we got both through an NBA season, and Curry was even able to get interest from other teams. The only reason Curry isn't in the NBA now is because he's just not good anymore. But We got him in shape and able to actually make it through an NBA season. Same with Lewis who basically had no legs when we got him--but I believe is now back in shape.

Pat Riley has a history going all the way back to Ike Austin of this kind of thing. IMO we give Oden the best chance to make it through an NBA season. And as a bonus, he'll probably get to play for a title. Which is what I thought you played the game for.

I get if at the end of the day it is just about getting the most money, because you know it's a brandon roy situation where it's your last contract. But if he is serious about having a career in the NBA, and he really thinks he can get through his career--then there is no alternative. Certainly not the damn Pelicans.

Scola is on a far higher level than Camby and co. He's as good a player as West.

The question with Greg Oden is whether the Heat are willing to match the Pelicans' mid-level-type offer or offer years.

If that's the question, the answer should be yes imo, for one reason, this is probably the best chance we'll have outside of a trade to seriously improve this roster in the next few years.

Yeah, it could wind up being a bust, but you're talking about Joel Anthony money here. If you can give Joel Anthony money to Joel Anthony, you can give it to Greg Oden on the off chance he winds up being even a quarter of the player he was projected to be.

If the heat are serious about keeping the big 3 after this year they should try to get oden for the midlevel for 3 years with the 3rd year a team option. It gives oden a guaranteed almost 7 million if he doesnt pan out, and if it he does it gives the heat his bird rights so they can resign him.

They can trade joel anthony and 3 million dollars for nothing (a draft pick that has so many conditions it will never be given) so they wont be any highger in the tax.

I think west is a lot better than scola. But I agree that scola is better than Camby. Scola defense is horrendous.

I think the delay is him giving Miami time to match the Pelicans offer. I think he really wants to play for the Heat, but i dont think Miami will bite.... I dont think Miami is offering more then the min but im confident that if Riley offers more its because he saw something really good in those workouts if not then its obvious he still a huge risk...

I'm just curious where Miami is supposed to ever realistically get a center for the next few years? Birdman is getting older and can't really start for us. Really happy to see so many people come off the books in 2014. Gotta make it through this year though.

A 1/5th version of Greg is better than Joel, give him the money. The reports are saying he can actually move and is lean in which case you take the risk.

Me personally, I think Heat will 3-peat if Wade is healthy come playoffs with or without Oden. So signing him to 3m wouldn't hinder Miami now or the future.

Won't happen unless we trade Chris Bosh.

Wade-LeBron-Howard

Wade-LeBron-Asik

all better than Wade-LeBron-Bosh

cause Bosh is soft inside, can't rebound, and no interior D. We will be lucky to beat Indiana next year

Big 3 take paycuts, We trade Joel, then get Gortat for ~7-8 Mil$ for 3-4 years before 2014-2015 (free agent).

But Let's get Oden first.

Why wouldn't we offer the MMLE at this point? There's nobody else worthwhile to spend it on.

Well to a degree i agree, but I dont think Pat Riley will just throw at him because theres nobody else on the market. Riley probably doesnt want that cap hit next year for Micky Arison to pay....but who knows

Well, i trust Riley, if he doesnt think hes worth the mmle then hes not, and you got to remember, we cut Mike Miller because of financial reasons, so i dont think they will use it just like that, remember that ever dollar they spend right now is worth double... so almost 7 mil per year on a risk is not a very good investment.... i highly doubt they offer it to Oden, and if they do will be as happy as anyone too.... Love his potential but again, i dont think they will..... i hope he ends up here on the min.

Did someone really just say wade-lebron-asik is better than wade-bron-bosh?

"OMFG HOW CAN YOU SAY TO TRADE BOSH! HES ONE OF THE BIG 3@@!! HES ON A POSTER ON MY WALL IN MY ROOM AHHHH"

Asik is a better rebounder, an elite rebounder in the NBA. He's a better interior defender than Bosh, and he can finish around the rim better than Bosh.

So yes, Wade-LeBron-Asik (+1 more role player in the difference in salary between Asik-Bosh) would be better than Wade-LeBron-Bosh.

Bosh finishes better around the rim. Bosh spaces the floor. Bosh can catch a pass and isn't only a tier above Joel offensively.

Really, the agenda with Bosh is getting tiresome.

That's so laughably wrong.

Bosh last year at the rim was a 75% shooter. Asik was 60%. 3-9 feet: Bosh:39% Asik:27% And don't forget that Bosh has one of the best mid range percentages period in the NBA at 53% from 16-23 ft. His defense was pretty valuable in the Finals as well. Asik is definitely an excellent rebounder but his whole game wouldn't improve this team if he were to replace Bosh.
