Love how Bam is talking about all his teammates and things he sees in them…. great leader type quality.
What about Bam though? What are others saying about Bam and his game? What has he brought to training camp that is surprising people?

Re: Miami Heat 2023/2024 Training Camp and Regular Season Thread
The 14th standard contract: The Heat could promote one of the two-way players to a standard deal to fill the 14th spot on the standard roster and then offer the vacated two-way deal to one of the remaining five players on camp tryout contract.
Another option could be to promote a tryout candidate to the standard roster without a guarantee, thereby maintaining roster flexibility and not risking the status of a player currently on a two-way deal (if a current two-way player is moved to a standard deal, he then would have to clear waivers should the Heat opt to return such a player to a two-way contract).
The hopefuls: Currently under tryout contracts are Cole Swider, Drew Peterson, Justin Champagnie, Alondes Williams and Cheick Diallo.
Hope to see RJ Hampton promoted for his defense and Swider getting a 2-way to let him develop like Robinson did. There's becoming a logjam at the lower levels, would be nice to see a smaller consolidation trade for a young PG to develop.

Locked on did an interview with Drew. He's said he's been working on mechanical adjustments and he's put on 10 lbs. He's gonna be headed to the G-League imo for the season.

Forget Harden. Save your assets for…….Ja Morant.
He’s no worse than Rod Strickland behavior wise and we can fix him up.

I have been trying to decipher the coloring system in the last couple of days watching videos, a couple of guys have changed color as camp has progressed but only a couple. This video I believe is on from Friday which is basically the last day so I am gonna try and do my mental gymnastics here and just strike up some theories.
Guys wearing Black :
Josh Richardson - PG/SG
Tyler Herro - SG
Jimmy Butler - SF
Nikola Jovic - PF
Bam Adebayo - C
Kyle Lowry - PG
Kevin Love - PF
Orlando Robinson - C
Cole Swider - SG/SF
Guys wearing Red:
Duncan Robinson - SF
Haywood Highsmith - SF/PF
Thomas Bryant - C
Jaime Jaquez Jr - SG/SF
Guys wearing Grey:
Dru Smith - PG/SG
Jamal Cain - SF
Caleb Martin - SG/SF
Guys wearing Green:
All the camp invites - either going to the G-League, converted to 2-ways, or cut from the team.
Overall Review:
Guys whos shirt has changed over the last couple days:
Dru smith - Green to Grey
Nikola Jovic - Grey to Black
Cole Swider - Green to Grey to Black
Duncan Robinson - Black to Grey to Red
Caleb Martin - Black to Grey
RJ Hampton - Green to Grey to Red back to Green
From some of the comments I have seen, Black is locked in a guaranteed position, not necessarily starter but coaching knows what exactly is your rotational spot so far. There are total of 9 men in this group you will problably see Caleb Martin be the 10th number here where Cole Swider is most likely more of 10th guy on the rotation, I expect Caleb either 6th man first off the bench or 2nd one relieving Butler.
Grey looks to be that you fit multiple roles in the offense/defense but coach doesn't necessarily know what your exact role is on the team, also you are being used in multiple different combinations to see where your best. The one that stands out here is Jamal Cain in grey, I think coach is giving him a serious try in all sorts of combinations but he may be the one guys whos just has way too many skilled SG/SF/PF in front of him to get any real playing time, he may find himself out of the rotation. Caleb is still wearing grey because he is being tested as a 6th man or as Jimmy's/Herro backup minutes or used in a big lineup, I think Spo is tinkering here with some wild stuff with Caleb Martin.
Red is players who are still trying to fight for rotation back up minutes, your gonna be on the team in one fashion or another, but coach is testing to see if they can beat someone either wearing black or grey and were you best fit in a 9-10 man rotation if you will. Red is also players who will get playing time when others are injured or during back to backs or rest days.
Green as stated above will shortly begin to get cut from the team, and may play a couple pre-season games to see if there's something worth investing a 2-way contract and or a G-league affiliate move to keep an eye on their progress.

If the assumption you are making is accurate, Duncan wearing red would be a little curious considering we aren’t deep at his position. Also, Cole Swider, at the same position has a secure spot in the rotation over him? I don’t know.

Yeah, I think Swider going to Black explains this, were the kid is on a cheap contract and perhaps out performing Duncan on the floor. Younger, Cheaper, hungrier....makes you wonder. Would not be surprised if he is the guy tied to Lowry at the trade deadline heading out.

Duncan should be ash hungru as ever. This is his first in a few years that he literalllky had nobody in font it him. He goes in and shoot ought out, then he gets his spot back.

Really like what I am hearing from Tyler. Hopefully, he can take his game to the next level and be our Herro or at least take some pressure from Jimmy and Bam. If he does, I will be glad the Heat didn't trade for Dame.

What? no, this is an actual topic of conversation based on camp videos, also write ups of Ira, 5RNS, Locked-On camp tibits and interviews.

Bam and Herro should be the ones to carry the load in the regular season. We need Butler as healthy as possible in the playoffs. To beat Bucks, Celtics who are better than last season is going to take the Butler we saw in the Buck series. Butler should as minimal effort needed to get Heat a top 3 seed. I rather the team be good enough for him not to have to carry the load. Im leaning towards everyone else . I want a fresh Butler in the postseason.
Knowing butler, hes going to want to go all out for the midseason tournament, to try to get his teammates at the end of the rotation paid. But then, lets pull it back a bit and have the rest of the team carry him into the postseason

That's the thing lol.. in order for Miami to get a top 3 seed Jimmy Butler is going to have to play at an MVP level and be present in at least 65+ games.
Not really. We got no 1 seed 2 years ago. Butler played 57 games and averaged 21.7 pts. We just had an abnormally bad shooting year. It was a anomaly. Then in the playoff there was positive regression.
Butler can have a normal year and Heat still get that top 3 seed provided we are above average shooting team, Bam & Herro make a leap offensively and one of Jovic/JJJ can play the PF min productively. But the shooting will dictate a lot. Our offense for better or worse depends on making 3s. If we can't make 3s then Butler has to go to hero mode. But I just don't see 2 straight season of bad shooting.
