waiters did come here for the minimum. I wonder how much of a discount he is willing to take. Maybe a 2 yr 10 mil contract? Same with JJ then you have about 15 mil to spend

Trade TJ with McRoberts and you have almost max contract for Hayward or Griffin.

I've been watching a lot of Bam stuff lately, anybody else see the Dwight Howard in him?

If our FO is bought into Bam, and it sounds like they are how would Heat fans feel about trading Dragic and Whiteside for draft picks?

Dragic is traded for PG13
Whiteside packaged with Mcroberts are moved for a multitude of picks
Griffen, and Gordon are signed and take 2.5 million dollar pay cuts

TJ (6 mil) Richardson (1.4 mil)
PG13 (19 mil) Mcgruder (1.3 mil)
Gordon (27.5 mil) Winslow (3 mil)
Griffen (27.5 mil) JJ (10 Mil)
Bam (2.5 mil)

This gets us capped out given the holds

After rejecting Elingtons option we resign him to a long term deal using the MLE

Good read. A relevant excerpt:
There is a consensus of respect throughout the league for what Miami, for example, accomplished last season. How far that gets the Heat in talking with Hayward and Blake Griffin is instructive in its own way. Teams weigh carefully the cost and benefit of every win.

The NBA’s perverse incentive structure took lottery weight away from a Miami team that played above its talent level last season, but perhaps through the intangible appeal of free agency it might reclaim some of that benefit. Getting in the room with a highly coveted free agent means something. Whether it means enough for borderline teams like the Heat to compete where other franchises might tank hinges on redeeming more from those meetings than the nod of a news cycle.

Yeah....

Wade burned his bridges with me as a fan, IMO. That diva crap got on my nerves. And how he treated Riley was disrespectful. Wade is a very long way from the humble Christian kid from Marquette whom we all used to love.

I don't care if Wade comes back or not. At this point, Wade is just a mercenary player to me. If he can help us win, good. If not, go away.

Alonzo Mourning is my favorite HEAT player of all time again.

I hope so...we need him for the culture as you would say :)

He's one of my sleepers as far as improving is concerned. He's been working on improving his jumper this offseason.

Another nice, cheap, young asset for this team to develop. Miami's building something special with guys like him, J-Rich, and TJ. Eventually, this wealth of options will force the team to improve by means of thinning out that back court via trade, even if Dion does come back. That might force a trade for a forward and/or backup PG. Miami will definitely need one soon.

Enjoy it while it lasts. Miami is getting all these young kids because of the championship glow from the Big 3 Era with Wade, lebron, and Bosh. As the years go by...... those kids will start to go to other teams and our Scouting Department will go back to being bad.

Lol. I don't know why I'm even going to reply. But yea McGruder he pretty much no options. No other team invested in him. He didn't chose Miami. Miami chose him.

I really like McGruder.

I put together a trade. Before I post on T&T for feedback, I thought I'd run it past you to see how much you hate it. It's never going to happen, because it is a 5-team trade, and those don't really happen outside of realgm.

POR-MIA-SAC-UTA-HOU

Why?

POR: Clears a ton of cap space for the price of 1 first and 1 second. This gets them out of luxury tax hell. Aside from the pick they dump Allen Crabbe and Noah Vonleh, two underachieving players.

MIA: Receives a 1st round pick, a couple seconds, and three young players, one who has a bad contract. For this season it's almost capspace neutral, and it also relieves us of one of our best players (TJ) and his contract that so concerns the realgmers.

SAC: Uses their cap space to get two excellent players and a first round pick in exchange for two seconds. Both TJ and Ryan Anderson are locals. Fans will love them.

UTA: Turns Exum into Wayne Ellington and Patric Beverley, giving them first-class perimeter shooting and defending. Exum has been disappointing and injured, though he has shown some potential at times too. Utah is now loaded with guards, though.

HOU: Salary dump of Beverley & Ryan Anderson. They can sign Chris Paul now.

Portland sends Allen Crabbe + Noah Vonleh + 2018 1st POR, 2021 MIA 2nd
Portland receives Josh McRoberts
negative: give up a first and a young player to dump Crabbe's deal.
Even after picking up McRoberts (who can be stretched) the Blazers cut $16M from their luxury tax. After waiving Ezeli, they are under the luxury tax line.

Miami sends Wayne Ellington + Josh McRoberts + Tyler Johnson
Miami receives Dante Exum, Allen Crabbe, + Noah Vonleh + 2018 1st POR, 2021 MIA 2nd, 2020 2nd DET
negative: we like TJ and we'll have to pay Crabbe for 3 more years. Limits future flexibility.
MIA is essentially getting a pick and Vonleh for taking Allen Crabbe off the Trailblazers. That's a $56.3M contract. We use Wayne Ellington's team option contract (passed to Utah) and TJ (passed to Sacramento) to match. I think TJ is worth two seconds (at least) and Ellington is being swapped for Exum, who will be redundant anyhow once they have Beverley.

Sacramento sends 2018 2nd (best of SAC or POR) & 2020 Det 2nd
Sacramento receives Tyler Johnson, Ryan Anderson
negative: not much really. This is a good deal for the Kings who won't care when TJ's contract goes up.

Utah sends Dante Exum
Utah receives Wayne Ellington (Team Option), Patric Beverley
negative: not much. Exum hasn't shown much and to compete in the WC (pun unintended), you have to be a good defender. what does that even mean?

Rockets out: Beverley, Ryan Anderson
Rockets in: 2018 2nd (best of SAC or POR)
negative: would really suck if they can't get anyone to sign.

Okay, so spit-balling ideas here:

We currently can't fit both GH & BG on the roster, as Dragic/Whiteside take up over $40m of capspace, not to mention the $18m between TJ/Ellington & McBob. Ellington can be released, and we'd ideally like to keep TJ, so we need to trade Dragic/McBob ($23m) and take back very little. So, here it goes:

Houston:
Beverly & Hartenstein for space
(They clear part of the space they're looking for, and use a player taken 43rd to do so).

Miami:
Dragic & McBob for Beverly & Hartenstein
(We clear a bunch of space ($17.5m), and get the 3&D PG that will go well with the new FAs).

Brooklyn:
Cap space for Dragic & McBob
(Nets take on a great PG on a good contract, and the cost is McBob's salary).

Going into meetings with BG & GH we have the following:

Beverly/J-Rich
TJ/McGruder
Justise/Okaro
Bam/Hartenstein
Whiteside

Yeah, I'm not sure is the best idea, but whatever, it's an idea.

If anyone deserves payback for that offer, it's Miami...I think Brooklyn just gave him that offer for chits and giggles lol

But yeah, they are one of the two teams (also Philly) I think could give Dion an offer the Heat would really hesitate to match. But maybe the Nets will try to get some restricted guys like KCP instead

It was a solid offer for a very good player they would have been lucky to have at 12 per year. And please do make that your avi

Yeah, I guess it would've been better for them since they wouldn't have had the weird raises
